    Here's an idea.

How about confining the selection to a year per week.

ie; next week we use albums from 2006.

    The following week, 2005.

We can work backwards till we fathom the depths of the 60's.

    Sound good??

Sounds perfectly okay to me. Even though it'll have me looking up what album was what year again for hours on end. (thank the interwebs for discogs and wikipedia)

I think we can try. If it doesn't work, we can change it any time :)

  • But, the only concern is that going through the latter years, some people (like me) are going to be confined to the more popular classic albums. I don't really have that big of a musical library to nominate or even vote. Also, I always thought it was cool to be pitting some stuff from different decades.

I agree with NocnikStargazer though, it's always easy to go back if it doesn't work, so a try wouldn't hurt. :)

  • Sounds alright - Another idea would be to nominate genres or moods. Obviously there is more mileage in going by year.

With genres, I was hoping desk managers could run competitions at the desks (to liven things up).

Again, we could always trial it. :)

  • cylob's proposal sounds nice, but i have the same concern as luishernando. this might result in very obvious picks and classics taking over, especially when we'll reach early 90s and backwards. i think the way we're doing it now, it's more useful to draw attention to some overlooked or underrated albums, letting people (re)discover some interesting stuff. but then again, we can give it a try and switch back to the old format, if it won't work. or, maybe we can keep this contest as it is and have tournaments for each year on a seperate desk. just an idea...

We could keep this as is then, and use the Decade Hotdesks for year competitions.

    That way everyone wins. :)
