"I've been converting my audio cassettes to mp3 lately and the cassettes are quite old (10-15 years)..the audio quality is ok, say 64kbps-ish. But some recordings have a hissing, how do i get rid of that?? Also, the stereo effect is missing, i'm using OnlineTV 2 recorder Weblink - what should I do?"

I think it will be easier to help you if you will post some more details. What do you mean by " SLSK crashes " ? Is there any error message you see ?

  • no, it just dies, and if i try to do anything, it says '(not responding)'.

Does it happen with other programs on your computer?
Did you try to re-install it maybe ?

    no, just with this.
im not even sure how it works, i broke it on my first go. i assume u have a folder that has all the music [or names of] u want to share. i [stupidly] just draged and dropped a massive folder into the sharing one, after ten minutes, and about 20 percent of the music, it crashed. everytime i reopen, even after reinstalling, it tries to finish that 'task', and crashes.

I'd delete Program Files/Soulseek and then reinstall. If you don't delete the folder it retains the settings (and as you say, continues from where it left off).

I wouldn't share more than 10,000 tracks (in the FAQ's they recommend something as such).

  • GREAT!
how do i do that then?

Just do it in explorer, delete the slsk program files folder.

Of course, slsk needs to be closed first.

if you want to completely remove SLSK, first you should uninstall it, if you use Windows, it can be done this way:

go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Look for Soulseek in the list, highlight it and press Change/Remove button.
After its done, go to Soulseek installation folder ( C:\Program Files\Soulseek would be my guess ) and remove all the files there.

Then you can safely install it again.

    Hope it helps :-)

  • How to disable download in Soulseek? I had selected a file for download but switched on to another file. Now, everytime I open slsk, this file starts downloading.
    (I'm new to Soulseek.)

I've tried abort/clear aborted files/delete/ physically deleting the file from my Computer.

    What do I do?

All you do is, click on the file in question and press delete.

    Simple as that!

Secret Snacker & Accomplished Pen Thief At:
  • Tried deleting, but pops back everytime I restart slsk. Maybe, I should reinstall the software.

  • How do I stop random downloads on Soulseek? Some kind folks have been sending me Wilco, Chaka Khan files..and I can't kill the process (the download restarts every time I open slsk.) I've tried ignore, ban (but that doesn't help here, right?)
