  • so on friday, i had this recomended to me:
    Federation - The Album (2004)

    genre - hyphy (aparently)
i realy liked it, so went on a quest for more of the same; amongst others i had this recomended:
    Mantronix - the album (1985)
    theinvisibleace said:

i kinda liked this too, more than decent anyway. and it was a bit depressing to find that the mighty, infalible to my mind, public enemy had 'jacked' mantronix for beats on a few songs.
then on sunday mornin, for some reason i was listening to vernon kay [all the other stations had mass and stuff] and he introduced a mantronix song, it isnt on 'the album', and has a girl singing on it and it was quite familiar to me from when i was younger, just hearin it about the place.
then today [monday??] i stumbled upon this desk, hoorah!

    in short: more mantronix please....

If you're not into 80's house I'd skip it. :)

With the Jungle Brothers (2 Live Crew are another), the distinction between oldschool hip-hop/house is very small, if anything I'd say it was hip-hop with a regular beat.
