    Artist: Pusherman
    Plays: 212

This band emerged at the height of Britpop, the only problem is they played dreampop (Curve style). Despite some slick marketing, they soon disappeared off the music radar.

Check the track "Whole", which crops up on many a compilation around 1996.

i have quite a number of low-played artists thanks to a very indie compilation of the 90s called "Snakebite City 4", with perhaps the biggest artist on it called "bis".

Bis have always been successful in the UK.

They started as a Britpop act, and in recent years they've moved into Electroclash territory.

As far as I know, they're still selling shitloads of records and still intact.

I doubt whether they're connected to Data Panik.

(only 1 of them is from me I believe)...some indie band that I found from a plug on an iPod site xD. They formed in early 2000s. For more clear information;Upsize Site. They're alright imo.

  • Sorry Cylob, that album cover cracked me up. :P

    Hehe. :D

The band are that obscure now I had to settle for a single, rather than the album it lives on.

Genuinely intimate and haunting psych-folk. Quite prolific, though I've only heard a wee, wee fragment of his work.

A darkwave band (no prizes for guessing where from), who spend their time at Depeche Mode parties. Sounds fun.

  • Grinderman. 50 plays.
Expected to grow rapidly, soon. Why? Have a look at the lineup :D The only song widely (on the internet) available so far is "No Pussy Blues", which most of the time does not work on their MySpace but which some kind people have already ripped and let loose in other fields. It is a bit like what you imagine reading about it but that doesn't matter because you can hardly help but imagine it brilliant.

Keety Roots has produced some of the finest UK digidub these last 16 years, but, like much good dub/reggae, most of it has been on limited-release, very-hard-to-find white label or just rinsed to shreds on dubplates on various sound systems. He's managed to get 180 plays on last.fm, though i suspect many of them are off mp3 from p2p...

    Marybeth D'Amico

A slight shift in emphasis this one - this is a shameless plug for a friend with the aim of getting her music known, rather than a hidden cult gem that this forum tends to champion.

She's just had her debut EP released, a literate, heartfelt collection of songs with a broad set of influences - but with a voice all her own.

  • Die Busfahrer
    18 plays scrobbled.

I don't quite remember where they gained my attention, but it was through what vaguely resembles a German cover of Primitive Painters, entitled Primitive Busfahrer and available (along with three other tracks which I am yet to give full attention to) from their MySpace I'm not quite sure if it's actually maintained by the band themselves or a fan - apparently they've existed since the eighties, I'm not quite sure if and when it ever ended ... all quite ominous, but everyone likes a mystery, no? Even if it's cult/obscurity value rather than a hidden new talent.

  • A Shallow Madness
    14 plays, all by me.

To quote the last.fm bio (written by me):
A Shallow Madness featured the original The Teardrop Explodes line up of Julian Cope, Paul Simpson, Dave Pickett, Mick Finkler plus Ian McCulloch. McCulloch's non-attendance at rehearsals led to Cope taking over vocals and thus The Teardrop Explodes was born; Mac went on to form Echo And The Bunnymen.

There is a recording of the band performing the song "Books" (included on Zoology anthology) which was co-written by Cope and McCulloch. The song was later recorded by The Teardrop Explodes (the b-side of "Reward"), Echo & the Bunnymen (as "Read It in Books" on the b-side of their first single "The Pictures On My Wall"), and Julian Cope solo (on the "Charlotte Anne" CD single).

Looks like I'm the only one to tag the version of "Books" off the Zoology compilation with this band name, which is mentioned in the CD liner notes. The track is an interesting rarity for those with an interest in the Liverpool post-punk scene.

  • Jylt
    42 Plays

The unfortunate low play count of this band is due to the even more unfortunate and incredibly sad - the lead singer, bassist and co-founder, Nia George, passed away in 2004 at the age of 21. By the looks of her site, http://www.niageorge.com, she was incredibly talented in both the graphical and musical worlds.

    A great loss :(

The only reason why I know about them is because they featured on a TUCO Untapped CD in 2003 (5th Edition) which was being given away free at university (I was at Swansea)

There are some other fantastic bands on taht album with less than 1000 plays including...
Star Bodixa who are also awesome.

(Interestingly Hard-fi appeared on this album with their (now) hit single Living for the Weekend)

  • Maggot Twat

Yeah..they're interesting. It's really heavy stuff, but its comedic at the same time. Stuffed Animal Orgy is quite amusing to me at least.
    Check em out.

  • Dollsquad
33 plays scrobbled (which really surprised me, I'd heard them on the radio some time in April)

Neat Aussie-based girl pop-punk with surprisingly few (considering their aesthetic) outbursts into girlgroupism (for instance on "Babydoll") and a few more into garage pop. They've supported, amongst others, The 5.6.7.8.'s and on the whole could be considered a more retro version of The Donnas.
    ==>MySpace

Not to be confused with the Dollsquad Burlesque Revue.

  • To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie
    306 Plays Scrobbled

This is a fractured electro/noise project that used to be based in Richmond, but relocated to Minneapolis/St. Paul back in 2004. They are working on releasing a new release with Kranky according to their website.

I encountered this band when I was bored on a sunday night and found out there was a show going on in my town (I went to college in a very small town). There were only four people watching and two of them were from the opening band. It was a disappointing turn out, but the band was really nice and just glad that someone was listening. As well, they were nice folks. The crowd, the houseowners, and the band smoked some hookah and chilled out for a while.

Bis split up a few years ago, and reformed with more members to make Datapanik in early 2005 (I think). Datapanik were pretty good, and I saw them live a year and a bit ago, but they split this summer after a lack of media or fan interest.

Bis have since reformed, although I'm not sure if they're a 'proper' group anymore, or planning on doing much more than 'the new transistor heroes' anniversary gigs.

I guess they burned out?! I thought the video to "Euro Disco" looked too energetic.

    Thanks for that spirited.

One of the first American post-punk bands, they blended Velvets-y guitar and Farfisa organ with male/female vocals that sounded like Lou Reed and Sharon Tandy having a knock-down, drag-out fight in the next room. They made one album,
Who's Landing In My Hangar?, in 1981, a live cassette for Roir the next year, and then gave up.

I can't quite understand the lack of plays. This band are as good as Nine Inch Nails and sound alot like Reznor's side project, Tapeworm.

It was a good find indeed.
