Favorite Patton Side Project

  • Favorite Patton Side Project

I've noticed a lot of Patton fans tend to prefer Fantômas but I tend to favor Tomahawk as my favorite project (aside from Faith No More/Mr. Bungle) that Mike Patton has done. Maybe it's just the straight up rock sensibility of Tomahawk that I love, I don't know, but I can't help but listen to it more often than Patton's many other side projects.

So what is you favorite and why?

  • Yeah, I also prefer Tomahawk's straight up rock . Patton + Jesus Lizard can't go wrong.

So, what do you consider as a "Patton side project"? Faith No More and Mr. Bungle had full time priority back in the day, and I wouldn't consider Fantômas a side project either since it's been the band he's done the most with durng this decade. Perhaps I would not even consider Tomahawk.

Peeping Tom seemed to be a project he worked on when he had some time over. It's good. I like Lovage and Mondo Cane as well.

If you want to know which group I like the most besides Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, then it would be Fantômas. :)

Lovage for sure. I found the CD at a record store for $7.99, and it's absolutely amazing.

I'm also eagerly awaiting a Mondo Cane studio album.

  • I am definitely diggin you, americanpsych01.. i don't really care for fantomas much, but i love bungle, tomahawk, lovage.. and i would really like to hear more from peeping tom as well. i've heard about crudo as well.. and i am very excited to hear that whenever i can come across it. i assume it hasn't even been released yet. btw, i couldn't leave you a shout, but i love all those tags you got there.. heh.

  • oh yea.. reasons why. shit, um tomahawk, imo, is some sexy ass music. same with lovage, except if i were a stripper, lovage would be my theme music... definitely some love makin tunes. bungle man, is just pure art. so crazy and off beat yet it all blends together and keeps such a.. how do you say it... idk a rhythmic beat, some how. i really like some of the songs from the "A Perfect Place" score, as well as the Crank 2 soundtrack.

I'm not sure if Mr. Bungle is a side project, but that's what got me into Patton.
Fantomas is probably my favorite side project aside from Bungle.

  • Zu

I like the track he sang on on Zu's new album. There's a cool track with King Buzzo playing guitar too.

  • for me:

    1 - Moonchild,
    2 - fantomas
    3 - Lovage

I would not call Peeping Tom a side-project, and Faith No More was more of a side project for him than Mr. Bungle when he was in both bands.

  • atm: Mondo Cane

but got the Crank2 O.S.T a few days ago ... and its really great

  • tomahawk animation

    Fantomas - Director's Cut
    Tomahawk - Anonymous

I think the second one is a bit underrated & there's no official video. Well I'm a cartoonist so let me show my small animation to the song "Red Fox"

alright bro. group. not project. you win.

  • Fantômas side project?

how the hell can you say Fantômas is a Patton side project?

    yeye
  • I don't want to get into the whole side project vs full time project debate. Let's just say anything that isn't Mike Patton solo is a Mike Patton project, for argument's sake. That being said:

    Peeping Tom
    Lovage
    Handsome Boy Modeling School

Of course, I love Mr. Bungle and Faith No More, but those were his first two bands before going off into the musicverse on a solo tip, so I'm taking for granted that most people include at least one of those two as a favorite band (project).
