Best Vocalist?

  • Dax Riggs of Acid Bath . Intense sludge screamer, as well as a soulful singer.

  • Dio. Not the best artist imo but the best singer so far i've heard.

  • Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden and James Hetfield from Metallica had the most awesome voice back in kill em all and Ride the Lightning

I love Randy Blythe from Lamb of God. He's just sick...and BTW, LoG is NOT metalcore.

Bruce Dickinson - Iron Maiden (Up the Irons! :D)
    "Onkel" Tom Angelripper - Sodom
    Steve Souza - (Ex-)Exodus
    Hansi Kürsch - Blind Guardian
George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher - Cannibal Corpse (:D) Perfect growling!

  • Gojiras Joe Duplantier has an exelent style of growling.
Volbeats Michael Poulsen has an unique style and sound that makes me wanna smash some shit. He is a vocal acrobat.
    Volbeat - Sad Man's Tongue

But you have be delusional to think anyone could beat Mikael from Opeth. He has a perfect technique with growling and can switch to clean vocals in a instant.
Check out this live song if you dont belive me.
    Opeth - Bleak

Mikael Åkerfeldts growling is realy awesome o.o

  • As far as variety goes I think Ihsahn (Emperor/Peccatum) is great at both clean and extreme vocals and similarly I’d also say Garm (Ulver/Arcturus) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth/Bloodbath).

Also Roy Khan (Kamelot) and Annlouice Loegdlund (Diablo Swing Orchestra) are great singers.

  • R.J. Dio
and also the great Michael Kiske (ex Helloween)

  • Lemmy. Many can growl, scream, and shout. He's the only one with fifty years of smoking in his lungs.

It's pretty hard to name the best, but:

    Chuck Billy (Testament)
    Steve (Zetro) Souza (Exodus)
    Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy)
    Phil Anselmo (Pantera)
    John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
    Ronnie Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
    Rob Halford (Judas Priest)

    Well that's about it...
