I listened to a female composer special on the radio today, was great. Particularly liked Fanny's pieces, and was kind of amazed with the Mendelssohn family history: actually, Fanny was never encouraged to compose. The father thought it was an absurd for her to publish her compositions and Felix tried his best to keep her always busy writing and correcting his own work. Still... she composed a lot. Girl power? :)
