  • Moving to Melborne in March!! Any advice??

    Hiii Everyone!

We are coming over to Melbourne on March 10th to live, work and generally see Australia. Any advice on wheres hot to hang out, where the cool bands are, any other places to check out? Places to avoid?! And any information about the area.

Very excited to be coming over and would love to have a plan on wheres hot where is just not, so feel free to offer any input!!

    And see you all sooon

  • Melbourne locals may crucify me but places like

    Brunswick Street (Fitzroy)
    Chapel Street (Prahran)
    Richmond isn't too bad either

Would probs be two ideal area's to check out first during day & night.

We have a bit of a problem with violent assault in the actual city CBD on the weekends.

Melbourne CBD during the day has a heap hidden stores & cafes down alley-ways and up-stairs in buildings, So explore a bit!

Most common beach is St.Kilda which is not far from the city.

Suburbs like Footscray/Sunshine/Noble Park/West Heidelburg/Dandenong not so good

  • To have a drink and chill with other music lovers (and also good live music venues):

    The Corner Hotel, Richmond
    The Espy, St. Kilda
    Northcote Social Club, Northcote
    East Brunswick Club, Brunswick East

South Melbourne beach is much much better than St. Kilda beach. There are not as many cafes or nightclubs/pubs nearby, but it's closer to the city, it is much cleaner and you can join in on some social Beach Volleyball while you're there.

I would recommend Chapel St - Prahran/South Yarra for somewhere to go out. There is something for everyone, with small boutique bars, traditional pubs and enough nightclubs type places to keep the "party people" happy. Katuk, La La Lounge and Hoo Hah are my personal favourites.
