Explains itself. If you agree that Metallica's third album "Master of Puppets" doesn't deserve all the hype and praise it gets from virtually everywhere, join this group!
I could never comprehend all the hype and praise this album got and still gets from virtually everywhere, be it from metalheads, music fans in general or critics in and outside the metalscene. It's not a bad album (I personally find it okay, 6/10), but even Metallica have released better albums like Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning or ...and Justice For All. Is it just because it was the last album with Cliff? Or because it has a nice atmosphere? I don't get it.
Musically the whole album is monotous, bland and dull. It's filled with average and repetitive riffs that bore you to death. Metal should be exciting, but this is just sleep-inducing. Playing-wise there is nothing interesting or especially challenging in any of the songs. They all just plod along without any real twists or turns.
Also, it is not a thrash metal album. It has only 2 or 3 songs that can be considered thrash (Battery, Disposable Heroes, Damage Inc.), so only noobs would label it "the best thrash metal album". Metallica was never really 100% thrash, but Ride the Lightning and Kill 'Em All (especially) contain more thrash than this. However, this album is not considered overrated just because it isn't really thrash, that just comes on top.
Furthermore why are people often calling this album progressive and innovative? Repeating the same riff over and over or adding some random mellow, melodic parts to a song doesn't make it progressive, that's nothing new or special at all. I guess those people don't have a clue of what they are talking about. Metallica never were progressive and never will be, because they don't have the necessary talent.
