• New Aaron Ackerson video: "LET'S HAVE SUCH A COFFEE"

24 Jun 2010, 00:45 by Aaron_Ackerson

While I was living in Japan, I was inspired by all the unintentionally funny English around me to write a song consisting entirely of real "Engrish" phrases from clothing, signs, product packaging, etc. The result is LET'S HAVE SUCH A COFFEE.

Here's a music video of the track that I recently made using photos of the sources of all of the song's Engrish lyrics:

You can download the track here.

AaronAckerson.net is the new, streamlined home of Aaron Ackerson music. I recently lost my old domain and used that seeming setback as inspiration to revamp my web presence.

I've set up a site on Bandcamp, where for the first time you can stream every track from my first album and download them for any price you name, or for free. And on that same site you can still buy a physical copy of the CD.

I've set up a facebook page where you can "like" my music and stay connected with my goings on.

Also, I've put every track from the album on my YouTube channel, including high quality versions of the "Not the End" and "Theme from The Sexiest Man on Earth" videos:

My second album, Outside on the Inside, is still around the corner, but before that, you can expect the release of Mission Complete, the new album by the video game and anime music band The Spoony Bards, which I've spent the last few years producing.

Last, I have recently signed up for worldwide digital distribution of my music, so in the coming weeks and months you can expect The Sexiest Man on Earth to start popping up on your favorite online music stores.

• Youmacon 2007 report

11 Nov 2007, 01:26 by Aaron_Ackerson

This past weekend I attended Youmacon 2007 in Troy Michigan. It was the first anime convention I've attended since moving back to the United States. The last one I attended was Anime Central in 2004. Since that time, my interest in Japanese animation has lessened, but that didn't stop Youmacon from being an amazing experience for me.

I went with my friends The Spoony Bards, and since they brought me in as part of the band I had guest status at the convention. This means that my transportation and lodging were comped. I also had access to places that regular con-goers did not. I could go right into places that were either off limits normally or required others to stand in line. I also was able to hang out in the green room with the real celebrities, eating free food.

The only annoying part of being a guest who was not actually famous is I had to deal with the disappointment of other non-celebrities in the green room at me not being famous. Here are two conversations I had there:

Person Probably Even Less Famous Than Me 1: What's your name?
Me: Aaron Ackerson.
PPELFTM1: Who's that?

Person Probably Even Less Famous Than Me 2: What's your name?
Me: Aaron Ackerson.
PPELFTM2: What makes you popular?

This was the first time I'd seen the Spoony Bards perform at a convention (with the exception of Anime Central 2004, where a smaller early version of them played). I had seen several of their performances before, at parties and at a cafe where they are the house band, but I must say, they are at their best when they are at a convention. They combine a fun spontaneity with serious musicianship and a real love for the music they play and the fans who listen.

But perhaps the biggest highlight of the con for me was that I finally got to meet my longtime online friends Neil and Alora from Lemon Demon.

As if it wasn't cool enough just to hang out with the Bards and Lemon Demon all weekend and get to watch them perform, I also got to perform with them on Saturday night when we came together as the Lemon Aaron Bards.

Later that night, we also had an informal jam session.

I also met some of Lemon Demon's fans, who are interesting people to say the least. When I wore my Lemon Demon shirt on Friday, several people confused me for Neil, including a group of screaming teenage girls, who I quickly told that I am not actually in Lemon Demon.

It was an awesome experience and some of the most fun I've had in the past several years. I'm looking forward to going again next year.

• So, now that I am getting towards 100,000....

22 Jul 2006, 09:07 by Bopher1

I realize that it's sad that I have been here to listen to roughly 97% of the 100k...I think once I get to 100k I will add tags to some of the songs...

Lostprophets dominate my Top Artists by about 6200 plays over The Offspring. Give It Up has dominated my Top Track forever...

I also am trying to figure out why Ohio Is For Lovers is still #50 on my tracks.. It hopefully will soon be removed.

I have listened to 431 tracks more than 100 times. Also, I have more than 100 plays for 88 artists.

I would like to thank www.YTMND.com for 200+ of my songs.

There are tons of artists I blame my sister for importing them to my iTunes. Trace Atkins, Hillary Duff*Cringe* and George Strait.

I hope to be a part of Last.fm (Formerly Audioscrobbler) for long time to come.

If you read this, please comment on anything. If you hate me, say why. If you have a question for me, ask away. If you love me... Call me.
• The Ultimate Lemon Demon Fan Showdown! Of Ultimate Destiny.

4 Jul 2006, 00:30 by LemonDemonLover

So, I had nothing to do for a while. I decided to look up the ULTIMATE LIST OF LEMON DEMON FANS. As of writing this, my overall plays says I've listened to Lemon Demon 1975 times. A nice amount, uh? From what I can tell, I am in 5th place on the scale of fan-iness.

Number 1 is Maxlord! The #1 Lemon Demon fan. Congratulations! He has a whopping 3388 plays. Wow!

Number 2 is Torn_Humana! With 3190 plays, he's doing pretty good!

Number 3 is JelloB, with an enormous 3081 plays! (I'm jealous.)

Number 4 is Peppery, with 2057 plays, over 1000 plays behind third place.

Then there's me, at number 5, with a tiny 1975 plays. Well, I feel proud.
