wizard710 I would love this to come to windows, what licence is it under and would we be able to rewrite it to work
December 2011 -
ossobo hi.. I am constantly getting the following error "Line (random line number): Extra content at the end of the document" Any ideas to resolve this? (latest version)
December 2011 -
AmnestyInc Any plans to make it for Windows? I imagine having iTunes installed would be a requirement as it seems to use the library.

titolinhas This application is very well made... Very interesting! :)
September 2011 -
okfromBNE wow, your application is pretty awesome and provides interesting insights into my listening habits.

nanwang Really cool app and works perfect for me!

mino2000 our (@afrome & mine) latest listening history visualization is up: LastLoop (www.lastloop.de) lets you interactively explore and compare multiple histories. Give it a try (works right in your browser)!
August 2010 -

TripleF maskinmakt: Unfortunately Last.fm doesn’t provide a fast way to access information about multiple tracks, so if you have a lot of different tracks in your library it will take a while to fetch all the necessary information individually.
June 2010 -
maskinmakt its been retrieving my listening history for 8 hours now. i hope it will work as i hope when its done :) i get error windows and stuff now and then too

talios Loving the app but now that I have 20k+ tracks and 100k+ entries showing up the app is running like a dog ( and taking 500mb+ of RAM as well! ). One interesting thing I've noticed is since using LastHistory I've changed my playlists to bring in more recently played tracks - http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1246/4593259469_bc3dbbbb2f_b.jpg

ev4njt love this program! the ability to zoom into times would be useful on my 13" macbook. Also when a mouse hovers over a node, it would be nice to have it stick to it or maybe bring up a small magnifying glass to select other songs in the same area

tlax Love this app. <3 Too bad it isn't compatible with Lightroom. Maybe I could find some plugin there.

TripleF Thanks Crompsy! Currently LastHistory only supports iPhoto.
April 2010 -
Crompsy Is there a way to have it pull from Aperture rather than iPhoto?
April 2010 -
Crompsy Very nice work, Frederik. I look forward to seeing this project develop further.

TripleF Just wanted to let you know that I finished my thesis on LastHistory. It’s available for download from my website (PDF, 16 MB) if someone is interested.
March 2010 -
president_block Thanks. I read it later. No more crashes indeed ;-)
March 2010 -

TripleF @president_block As noted on the website, there is an issue that can lead to crashes when interacting with the visualization while the download from Last.fm is still in progress. I would recommend not to interact with the program until the history is fully downloaded. Afterwards I have not experienced any crashes. Enjoy! :)
March 2010 -
president_block I have the latest version of Snow Leopard, but the app crashed immediately and kept crashing, so I removed it....

TripleF @Four_Ton_Tanuki Unfortunately the Last.fm servers sometimes return random errors. I haven’t seen this specific one, but if you send me the error output from the Mac OS X Console I can look into it. @buzlink No. LastHistory uses a number of Mac OS X components that are not available on Tiger. @prolixian Unfortunately LastHistory needs to ask the Last.fm servers about the tags for every track in your library individually, which is why it can take a while. Hopefully Last.fm adds a faster way to do this in the future.
March 2010 -
jcampbellpg just found the app via the lifehacker article. I just started using last.fm too so my history is pretty sparce, but I can see the visualization building and can't wait to get some serious history and some awesome visualizations going.
March 2010 -
buzlink Any Tiger version?
March 2010 -
Four_Ton_Tanuki When LastHistory is in the middle of the "Retrieving tags for ____ tracks..." process a dialogue box pops up quite frequently saying "No track found". What does this refer to? And will I have to keep clicking 'OK' for the remainder of the 9956 track tags it's searching for?
March 2010 -
hillenha Just want to say thank you! This is awesome. xx
March 2010 -
prolixian Found this via LifaHacker article - I expect that will have driven up the hits significantly. Found the software easy to use but it took an age to download my last.fm history - I guess there's a lot of data to pull!
March 2010 -

TripleF @ZBBrox The node weight is based on the percentage of history entries for the node’s song that are within a 30-day window surrounding the node, plus some calculations for normalizing different track counts and the "age" of the track in your history. Here’s the code, but this part is not too well-documented I’m afraid: http://github.com/triplef/LastHistory/blob/master/LHWeightingOperation.m#L83 Basically, the more intensely you played the song in a 30 day window surrounding the node, and the less you played it at other times, the bigger the node.
March 2010 -

TripleF Porting the app to another platform like Windows or Linux would probably constitute a complete re-write, as it heavily builds on technology that is only available on Mac OS X (esp. Core Data and Core Animation). Sorry guys...
March 2010 -
ZBBrox Very cool. If I may ask, how are song weights determined?
March 2010 -
cankoklu This is really fantastic.. kudos to the developer..
March 2010 -
RedRibbonScars This looks like an amazing piece of software. Very cool! Have looked at the source documentation, looks like it could take a fair amount of work to get it running on Linux, no?
March 2010 -
MichaelNewton ..Yep. Really would like this on a PC. What are the chances of us getting that? Before someone else does - eeeh :(?
March 2010 -
ChronoAreku Really well designed and put together. Thanks!
March 2010 -
Gbreaux any way we could get this on PC? I would love to try this out.
March 2010 -

TripleF @gregor77: LastHistory was built more as a tool for analyzing and reminiscing, so using it as a player was not the primary focus. I agree though that it would be nice if it would also scrobble songs listened to using the application. I think there are also a number of other ways to improve the initial version of LastHistory, and I’m hoping to do so maybe with the help of other developers - the source code is available at http://github.com/triplef/LastHistory (hint hint). :)
March 2010 -
gregor77 awesome piece of software. but - is it just me or does lasthistory not scrobble songs i listen to?
March 2010 -
evilmutent This software is pretty cool! very unique
