What happened? This WAS the best application to date. Any help is appreciated

Looks like the assholes at the CRTC got to them???
I dunno I am having the same problem but the website works fine. Shame really this is one of the best streaming apps on the iphone

So one can effectively steal(download) music in this country, but Can't use a legitimate service to listen to music?

We should still be able to use it in wi-fi .... CRTC has no place on the internet... i think we do something and you are right this was the only cool app... for the iphone. Why do i have this thing again ,,,,, a little MAD..

A very sad choice.

I'm very sad that Last.fm has chosen to exclude Canada from being able to use this app. I paid for a subscription specifically so that I could use the app once the new policy to exclude Canada from free streaming was put in place. I feel very disappointed that we were not warned in the announcement that even paid subscribers will no longer have access to the app.

Ya I just got screwed

I was under the impression if I was a PAYING subscriber I can use the iphone app. Been out of the country the past few weeks and just paid (believing it was because I hadn't subscribed yet), and now my bloody iphone app still doesn't work. I literally paid only to use it on my iphone. This is absolutely ridiculous

Last.fm just lost a customer

So this new policy of charging Canadian customers on their website and blocking their iphone apps is according to them a "business decision".

Well let me make a "business decision" and quit last.fm! Canadians will hit last.fm where it hurts (their wallets)... I am currently signing up for my imeem account which will soon (hopefully) have an Iphone app.

Not sure what happened or what I did. But as a paying subscriber the last.fm iphone app seems to be working again!!

I've tested it on Rogers 3g network + my wifi. may be to good to be true but i'll see if it works again tomorrow.

The radio team fixed a bug earlier today that was preventing the app from working outside US/UK/DE. While we do not currently distribute or support the app outside of those three countries due to licensing restrictions, it should be usable to subscribers worldwide again.

Any opinions stated in this post are my own, and not that of Last.fm or CBS unless stated otherwise. Please don't quote this post outside these forums without my permission.

You're saying "though you can't get the Last.fm app through the Canadian iPhone App Store, if you've already got it, it works again". That's not much help to those of us who have deleted it after months of it being unusable, is it?

So that everyone is happy

Having this app was a deciding factor for me to buy an iphone last week.
While everyone was ranting...a simple google search revealed this:
US itunes in Canada

I just went out to Shoppers and got one of these. My last.fm app is playing now perfectly while I type this...

Not the CRTC

It's probably not the CRTC who have no power over internet-mediated communication. It's probably the Canadian Recording Industry Association who have a proven history of being complete dicks. Licensing rules in the States and Canada are different after all.

The $3 a month thing wouldn't even be available if this was the CRTC. It makes sense to charge if the CRIA want more money.

Also, I'm still getting the insufficient content error. Will we still see updates to the app if we own it on a Canadian account? Was the insufficient content error fixed on your end or will we have to update?

Can someone please tell me in plain english, does last fm work on the Iphone with or with out a paid subscription. The App had worked for acouple of days but it stopped again
