Add friends using the API (user.addFriend)

As far as I know the Last.fm API currently doesn't offer any method that let's you send a friend request.
I would be interested in this functionality, so I was wondering if anyone has found a workaround for this and if Last.fm is planning on adding this functionality.

I would like to see this functionality also.
As far as I can tell, a year later, there is still no such API.

I think, if such an API call would be implemented, one has to consider the problem of friend request spamming.

  • Thanks for the answer and I agree to your concern about spamming.
You do have an application spamming limit already I believe and you could require requests to be filed separately (no mass friend requests, hence user.addFriend and not user.addFriends)
So, any chance for anything like it?

I'll see what I can do, but unfortunately I can't promise anything :)
