track submitted but no page update

  • track submitted but no page update

Hi, I just installed the CF library and the Last.fm plug-in onto my HTC Kaiser (tytnII, etc) and it seems to be working fine.

I use WMP with the plug-in, the plug shows the track being cached.

in the cache I push 'scrobble now'

I then get to the Events page and it says

    -Started at 00:00:00 (whatever time)
    -Connecting to
    audioscrobbler.com...
    -Handshake successful
    -Track(s) submitted successfully

but I don't see any change to my page

I have tried doing this through USB and WiFi with no joy.

why are they not showing, am I missing something? I'm sure the date is correct and regardless it usually shows up anyway.

could it be because I'm scrobbling at a desktop PC?

any clues would be a great help, i'm yet to try the radio function

    cheers

Please clarify on that - does it imply you scrobbled tracks on your PC using the official desktop client after you played the track on your PPC, but before you clicked the button on the PPC? In that case, the spam filters of last.fm will filter your tracks (see the last paragraph of the this thread for a more detailed description).

  • eh?

I was scrobbling on the desktop while plugged into USB and also while on Wi-Fi scrobbling on my phone, completely different tracks though. is this why they don't get scrobbled?

This is one explanation (and a very likely). The last.fm servers reject any track which has a timestamp indicating an earlier playback time than the timestamp of the last submitted track. If you scrobble a track on your PC, you won't be able to scrobble any tracks played on your PPC before that. This is a server "limitation" (actually, as stated above, a "spam" filter) by last.fm and not under control of the client.

You can easily prove whether this is the problem by stopping any playback on your PC, playing one track on your PPC and submitting the track after playback has finished.

  • Other time stamp problem...

I have this problem when scrobbling: "Some tracks you submitted have not been added to your profile for the following reason:
Submissions from before the date you registered are not allowed."
    What'up with this?
    Cheers

    I am desolated.

Have you checked the date/time settings on your device?

  • The time on my device is correct

Yes, I have checked the time and date on my device. It is precise within a seconds.

You can check the timestamp the client submits to last.fm by opening the cache.xml in the folder you installed the client to.

Are you sure the notifications are caused by this client? Do they appear regularly, ie can you reproduce it?

In case the problem persists, please create a new thread in the new Pocket Scrobbler forum, as this forum is read only now.
