TCPMP with added last.fm Mobile support

  • TCPMP with added last.fm Mobile support

For those wanting to use TCPMP instead of Windows Media Player on their device, I have done a few minor modifications to add last.fm Mobile support to TCPMP.

All files you need can be found on this rudimentary website.

For using this modification you'll need Windows Mobile 5 or higher (Pocket PC devices, no smartphones at the moment, sorry) and TCPMP 0.72RC1 (other versions most probably won't be compatible as this binary has been created from the 0.72RC1 source).

If you want to have TCPMP scrobble on your Windows Mobile Smartphone you currently need to recompile the needed files on your own. The source is also provided on the website linked above. I'll try to provide ready-to-use binaries for Smartphones in the next few days.

As of January 5th, 2008 there is also a modified common.dll that resolves an issue TCPMP had with Unicode tags in MP3 files. Thanks to vaddja for testing.

Any comments on problems you encounter whilst using the modification or hints on any error you observe in my modified code are welcome.

And just to clarify - you still need last.fm Mobile, that's why this is posted in this group. ;)

  • That sounds great! I'll test it tomorrow, but I guess it's already safe to make this thread sticky. Thanks!

  • (whoops, posted that twice)

    Thanks!
    But...
I have tcpmp ver0.72RC1(wm5;pocket pc;eten m600+), copied interface.plg to folders "tcpmp" and "tcpmp\Subtitle", but there are no changes, simply nowhere to enter login and pass for last.fm. How does this work?

  • Well, you still need last.fm Mobile for scrobbling, just like on the PC you have last.fm plus a plugin for your favourite Media Player.

Have a look at this thread and think "TCPMP" instead of "Windows Media Player" where it is mentioned. ;)

errr... i suppose this entire discussion applies only to Pocket PCs and not smartphones right?

    :)

  • Yep, exactly. Though I suppose that as soon as last.fm Mobile is available for smartphones it should suffice to recompile my TCPMP changes for that specific SDK.

  • Updated the text of the initial posting in this thread. There's another modification that solves issues TCPMP has with Unicode ID3 tags. Thanks to vaddja for testing this.

    PocketMusic support please Ж)

    ♪Pumping On My Stereo♪
  • Obviously PocketMusic is not open source, so you'd have to ask the guys at PocketMind to add last.fm Mobile support to their player. ;)
