I'm one of those strange people who prefer Attlia's vocals over Dead's vocals (runs for my life before the black kvlt metal elitists kill me)

if the new singer sucks, then yes, it does mean the band now sucks

I don't get some of the Connected Artists. Some of them never got a new singer. Anyway, this reminds me of Nightwish. Few years ago they got a new singer.. And she's great! Just not every NW fan sees that.

"Escape The Fate weren't really ruined by the change in vocals (although I do far prefer Ronnie), I think it was the influences Craig brought in. They sold out with him. They just became some shitty post-hardcore/alt rock band. It wasn't because the singing changed, it's because they changed their style. not always a bad thing, but in EtF's case it really was lol." This. in my opinion, vocalist change doesn't really ruin the band, it's when they change styles with a new vocalist that ruins the band. For example, Ronnie Radke's new band sucks too, so it wasn't just his vocals alone that made old Escape the Fate so good. He left and the band changed styles.

The only time I don't like vocalist changes is when it changes the overall sound of the band. The Human Abstract's current vocalist and previous vocalist sound completely different, and as a result they're a very different sounding band these days. Same with Escape the Fate. As Blood Runs Black and Arsonists Get all the Girls stayed relatively the same after vocalist changes though.

Haste The Day should be a connected artist. I think they actually got better after Jimmy left and then after Brennan left. They had many lineup changes and continued on til now.

No i'm mainly referring this to metal and hardcore related bands though seeing all these people from the opposite type of metal joining instead I find INCREDIBLY suprising.

are pop bands changing vocalists? o_O i thought pop music = all about singer. no singer = no band.

vvya I agree perfectly. I didn't know such a genre was going through the same issues. Interesting.

    October 2010
  • iPowers

What suprises me though is that all the members that have joined are not into metalcore which I find to be quite ironic. I mean that genre constantly gets new vocalist but all the progressive/Power metal bands are joining instead.

Tecool: Not always true. Sometimes they get mainstream success after getting a new vocalist. Secret and Whisper, Escape the Fate, Yellowcard, and Underoath are a few examples.
