Jools Holland, OBE was born Julian Miles Holland on January 24, 1958 in Blackheath, South East London. He is an English pianist, bandleader and television presenter.

At the age of eight, he could play the piano fluently by ear, and by the time he reached his early teens he was proficient and confident enough to be appearing regularly in many of the pubs in South East London and the East End Docks.

Holland was a founding member of the band Squeeze which formed in March 1974. Holland played the keyboard with the group until after the band produced its third album in 1980 when Holland left to forge a solo career.

His work has involved him with many of the biggest names in the contemporary rock and popular music industry.

Later... with Jools Holland is a contemporary British music television show hosted by Jools Holland... and his latest project to date. A spin-off of The Late Show, it has been running without a break since 1992 and is a part of BBC2's late-night line-up, usually around 11PM. It is usually recorded on a Tuesday for Friday broadcast and regularly features a healthy mix of both established and new musical artists, from solo performers to bands and larger ensembles.

The 200th programme was broadcast on 1 February 2008!
