My boyfriend (now husband) took me to see John Cale at the Whisky A-Go-Go around 1979. It was unforgettable and I recall it now at age 50 as a defining mark of knowing an original music creator as a vessel of raw, true, emotional beats scored with incomparable lyric poetry that endures. A legend in his own time.
