    I Now Feel Old

Haven't heard a lot of the bands mentioned here. I kinda got out of the local scene in the early 00's so most of the bands in my list probably don't exist anymore.

    Shiloh Church
    Witches of Weir
    In Loving Memory
    Vida Blue/Ten Grand
    Grubby Ernie
    Horrorshow Hoods
    Last Laugh
    Safety Second
    Bottledog
    The Chezwicks
The Kill-o-Watts (from Ill. but they played shows at the Botanical Center in DM all the time)
    Organ Donor
    The Badger Haus
    Rev. Theory

Modern Life Is War (Equal Vision Records)
    Keep and Confess

I really enjoyed From Citizen to Soldier when they were still recording. Brutal Republic is a great choice if you enjoy BLS and the like.

You're born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I'm living like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't one.

Oh, and since I don't really keep up on the local scene, is it safe to assume that most of the bands being recommended are indie unless otherwise specified?

You're born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I'm living like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't one.
  • I assume you mean indie like independent...I went back and edited my post with the record labels some of the bands are on.

I mean the indie sound moreso. I guess if people could clarify what they sounds like, a la this lady:

  • Though they're really from Chicago...

    Hello Dave.

Also, Iowa City, what's good on the Death Ships? I hear they're pretty stellar.

    Clever kids are killing me.

Yeah, I really enjoyed their cd. They have reformed, but added Danny Shea officially on second vox. No offense to Danny, he's always been cool with me personally, but he was pretty awful both times I seen him with Stab Corp./Age Of Discord. Though I'm not much for pig squeals.

    Approaching Nain
    Plan to Pull Through

Well I have friends in both bands so I'm biased.

    Oh Possum is great too.

Actually a lot of bands in the central Iowa scene seem to be breaking up and forming new bands right about now.

  • The Actress Adorable
    Give Away The Plot
    A Sea Of Glass

All of them are from Waterloo-Cedar Falls, and I have friends in them so I'm kind of biased.
