I can't believe how so many people just don't get it. Here are the facts. If you steal the music, nobody will be able to make any more and you'll have to make it yourselves! It's the same as me coming into your house and taking your wide-screen tv, or your cd collection, or your computer. I think you'd be a bit pissed off! Artists making money from touring? What planet are YOU from, man? How many tours have YOU done? Ball-breaking door deals all over the planet, club owners not giving two fucks who the band is, "oops we forgot to book you guys into a hotel tonight" etc. Van breaks down, need new gearbox...

Jaketallica, what you're forgetting is that not every single band and project is a live act. Many don't play live at all. If the only way to earn money would be gigging you're basically forcing the acts to do something they never intended, which is not exactly the kind of freedom we pirates are supporting. Of course, there's merchandise, but not everyone likes that either. I think there should always be album sales. There's nothing wrong with that. The music can still be available for free online, because of the great promotion capabilities. I agree partially with the part about the record companies. They will have to change as we move into a digital age, but everyone cannot do without them. Labels would support the bands, promote them and supervise quality, for example. We all want a way of filtering the good from the bad from the decent, don't we? These labels would no longer have to be big companies but could just be a few guys on the internet doing it just because they love music.

It's funny Mettalica is in your connections. When napster was going strong they were bitching the loudest.

Here is serious business. I'm in full support of so called "pirate music". Artists should make money purely from touring.. all music should be available free digitally. No record companies.. everyone can do without them, specially the bands who recieve like 0.0001% commision on each cd sold. So, free digital music and we all go to gigs, yeah? That way, the news of bands is spread around quickly via free music and they get more people at their gigs who otherwise wouldn't bother risking pirating or wouldnt bother paying money for a debut album that may not be too good. so... a summary... Free digital music, bands earn money via gigs, NO RECORD COMPANYS!!! Yarrr
