    I just noticed that
"One With The Wurlitzer" by American Football,
"Moore Choice" by Abstrackt Keal Agram and
    "(Lady Grey)" by Montag
are instrumental too. It doesn't help that I listen to mostly the same artists. ;)

  • instrumental stuff!!

Sonic Youth - "The Diamond Sea" has a couple verses in it, but the vast majority (25 minutes) is beautiful jamming
Sonic Youth - Death to Our Friends

Dream Theater - Overture 1928 might be one of the best progmetal instrumentals ever.
+ Dream Theater - Stream of Conciousness
    going along with progrock, there's

    Rush - La Villa Strangiata
Rush - Leave That Thing Alone
    Rush - Limbo
    Rush - YYZ

My Bloody Valentine - To Here Knows When
My Bloody Valentine - I Only Said
both have occasional, barely audible, wordless vocals deep down in the mix - instrumental enough for me.

Pavement - Strings of Nashville [Instrumental] is the instumental version. go figure.

Radiohead - Meeting in the Aisle
I think the instrumentals on Kid A were already mentioned...

Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (the song, not the album) and
    Smashing Pumpkins - Infinite Sadness

    Tool - Reflection
    Tool - Triad

    Yes - The Fish
Yes - Mood for a Day

  • Nine Inch Nails
    The persistance of loss
    Leaving hope
    Pilgrimage

    Pixies
    Cecilia Ann
Rock Music (does it count - try working out the lyrics if you don't know them already - same for 'Something Against You)

    Pavement
    5-4=Unity

The Breeders had a couple of instrumental songs... but they weren't very good

btw, some mogwai songs have lyrics - dunno if other people said that already

There is a thread that is the opposite of this one, "instrumental artists with vocals songs" right in this forum. Check it out. We got Mogwai covered already though. ;)

  • I dunno where to ad this but someone aded the track Bloodand it really breaks the mood. Nice instrumental music floating thru my speakers then this rap then back to instrumental.

For the group radio station you mean? You can post it here: http://www.last.fm/group/Instrumental%2Bmusic%2Bthat%2Bmakes%2Byou%2Bfeel/forum/28331/_/83816

When the station was first created, some of us added entire artists (myself included) and that mistakeningly let some vocal songs through. (Like Mogwai has some songs with lyrics so you can't just tag Mogwai as a whole.) Whoever did it will probably/hopefully delete the artist to fix it if you report it there.

  • sweet thanks

  • Ode To Isis - ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Death

  • This Room (Four Tet and Monitoba Remix)

Yeah, but isn't there an instrumental version on the expanded edition of The Moon and Antarctica?

I dont have the expanded edition, so maybe...

  • Basically anything by "This Will Destroy You" off the Young Mountain ep. It's so great... I've been listening to it quite a bit, as it is great music to drive around and think about stuff to.

    Hope.

Aren't those bands instrumental? This thread is for bands who aren't usually instrumental, but have a one or a few instrumental songs. You can recommend This Will Destroy You in the recommendations thread. Unless they have songs with lyrics, then you should clarify. :)

  • Ahh yes, your point is well taken, then i change my answer to Einstürzende Neubauten's "Ozean und Brandung" off the Perpetuum Mobile Album. Very good stuff.

    Hope.
  • Marie Floating Over The Backyard

    i like belle & sebastian...

  • Luna - Drunken Whistler

and yes, there is an instrumental "Custom Concern" by Modest Mouse.

... and its Trail of Dead, not Trail of Death

    woot.

Well as long as we are talking about modest mouse having instrumental songs, I think The Air is a more obvious choice because there isn't a version with words. The song is realllly steez, I dont know if its my favorite non-instrumental band instrumental song though.

  • I know Radiohead's been mentioned already, but does anyone else, save for myself, prefer Hunting Bears to Treefingers?
