I haven't seen much promotion regarding the upcoming King's X album on the inside out site. Is that still planned to come out in the next couple months?
(Unless I've miscounted,) I own seven albums released on InsideOut. These include two Spock's Beard, two Devin Townsend, two Threshold and one Symphony X album.
Obviously just about everything on the label is recommended, but I like to give each album I buy enough time to enjoy it to its maximum, so what would you guys recommend the most?
Also, I'm hoping someone I know IRL is going to lend me The Human Equation by Ayreon, so don't bother recommending that.
I own... wait I count it 15 cds. That include ayreon's album, some pain of salvation, the last spock's beard and symphony x, the flower kings - adam and eva, the last alan morse, thought chamber and redemption albums.
I think i will buy also some A.C.T albums, the pain of salvations albums I left (enthropia, one hour by concrete lake). I should also buy the last neal morse, and pure reason revolution.
The problem that it is hard to find A.C.T albums except on Inside out of course. But the inside out shop is expensive, I prefer buy my cds on amazon or ebay.
Hey Nathalie, any chance you could poke someone at IOM to arrange for more streaming music on last.fm? It'd make it easier to talk about the music then! :oD
And the folks at IOM America do seem to need a rocket up their behinds regarding King's X as David (gopack91) suggests - I'm sure you could use your influence... ;o)
I've got a fair bit of stuff from IOM over the years (list of bands below for the geeks) and while it does cost a bit from the IOM shop it is a lot cheaper than getting it from a record shop in the UK. Not that UK shops stock much IOM stuff, but it is improving. Amazon and eBay might be the cheap options, but the artists don't make any money out of used CDs, so I normally only use them for out of print stuff. Every time I've purchased CDs from IOM's webshop (http://www.insideoutshop.de/) I've received a couple of CD single promos for free, so that takes the edge off the postage costs. You've got to admit that IOM do a good job with the art/packaging too, especially for the special editions, so you always get value for money in my opinion.
@GrantRS: Looking at your profile, you'll probably enjoy Evergrey, Deadsoul Tribe and maybe even The Jelly Jam. If you don't mind something on the mellow side of prog, Polish band Riverside are worth a punt too.
Btw, why didn't IOM release Carptree's other three albums? They've released Man Made Machine but the band have 3 more albums (from whom 2 were recorded earlier and 1 - later than Man Made Machine) I'm looking forward to see those albums on IOM someday, 'cause I tried to find them really hard - but didn't find any.
And... I can't wait for the 3rd of March to buy The Tangent's Not As Good As The Book. Oh, and very curious about those new french guys signed - Demians
Thanks JaseJ. I actually bought an Evergrey album (the Dark Discovery) since I last posted in this thread. I'm liking it, and will probably get to some of their others eventually.
I came across music by a band called Riverside, but I'm not sure if it's the same one. I'm aware there are at least two artists called Riverside if not three or more. Will try and find confirmation of which Riverside I've already heard.
I'll have to check out the other two as I don't know their music.
