Just stop using it.

The word "indie" lost its meaning forever ago thanks to last.fm. Tagging mainstream label artists such as:

Coldplay
Weezer
Foo Fighters
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Smashing Pumpkins
Kings of Leon

"indie", even though they've all been signed to major labels since their conception(s), does not make you cool.

Go kill yourself.
