A review of the day I posted on the Incognito forum pages:
What a fantastic day!! The morning & early afternoon at the festival with the gig just the icing on the cake plus the fact that it didn't rain all day !! Made it a day out with the family took a picnic went on the beach saw some of the excellent street theatre and topped off with a great show. It was the first real'pop' concert my two children have been to , they loved it though I think my son Joe(12) would have liked to see Editors/Kaiser Cheifs or what ever playing too, but by the end he was really into it, dancing along too! A usual everyone was on top form, I don't know how they keep up the level of performance for each gig I read about & see, really shows just how professional the guys/girls are & the passion they have for what they do, just amzaing. A slightly shortened set for the festival, still about 90mins though & comprised of:
Still a friend of mine NOT Deep Waters When the sun comes down Morning sun Nights over egypt Don't you worry about a thing Everyday Always there I hear your name + another track that I've forgotten in there somewhere!
I hadn't heard any of the new album's material live so that was a real bonus N.O.T. being a real standout for me, TUNE! also not heard Always There live since that last time I saw them in the NorthEast and that was 1993! Great finish with I Hear Your Name another new live track for me. A bit difficult to see the crowd response from where we were (on the barriers Smile ) But It was pretty sizable when we got there a hour earlier and by the sounds coming from behind me It was going down very well considering most I suspect were not there just for the Cogs. Anyway Imaani & Joy got them rocking & swaying pretty quicky especially to N.O.T., Morning Sun, Nights Over Egypt & Everyday.
Met up with Jonathan & Mick Turner, great to see you both again. Mick had his son with him again (get em educated young..seems to work with your lad even had a cog t-shirt on!) I'll keep trying with my two, Holly could be well on the way after this though .
Just to finish things of rather well I got to meet some of the band for the first time ever! Bluey, Matt, Tony & Francis all came over to the crowd line to speak to fans. Had a few words with Matt and waited for a couple of mins to speak to Bluey. A more genuine, friendly & interesting person you are never likely to meet, I know we all know this through his music and some in person but in all comes out face to face. I'd like to thank him for taking the time to talk to all my family with geuine interest & passion about music & life generally, passing on a few gems of inspiration to my two children which I'm sure they will remember for a long time.
A great day with so many superb memories that I was lucky enough to share with many people & my family which made it extra special. Highlights- meeting Bluey for the first time, all dancing along to N.O.T. , having the sun shine on cue,and having my daughter say to me that's the happiest she has seen me! (what more can I say).
