IDM or not, most emotional electronic song you've heard?

For me, it's Acroyear2 by Autechre (although µ-Ziq's Tango N' Vectif and Cylob's Cylobian Sunset are worth mentioning too). Yes, I know - how can anything by Autechre be emotional? I don't know, but there's something about it that's there. I've heard that BoC are good and emotional, but to me, I never feel anything and get bored with them (although I bet many will disagree).

  • you got that right. BOC is full emo-electronic.

most emotional... Brian Eno's an ending.

Boards of Canada's 'A Beautiful Place Out In The Country' moved me to tears first time I heard it.

    Oooo I forgot about Global Communication's 12:18. Emo-ambient yeah!!!

  • (hello everybody, I'm new in here!)
Doubtless all Boc's songs, especially the "In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country" EP (ahhh Amo Bishop Roden). Brian Eno's "An Ending" and Aphex Twin's "Nannou" too... But the list is long!

I would have to go for some múm track too, or maybe a Sigur Rós track. but then.. I have differnt emotions to differnt tracks and I can't compare the feeling of a fast snare rush of Aphex Twin, too a beautiful chord by Brian Eno

I think the IDM track that has moved me the most ever is 'Alberto Balsalm' by Aphex Twin. This also may be because at the time of buying the album I was feeling very emotional myself, and the mood of '...I Care Because You Do' fitted with how I was feeling at the time. I love that track.

  • I'm of the mind that all music has an emotional attachment of some kind... otherwise why listen?

But there are some many.... even a drone can make you feel something.
So i guess i'm not answering the question ;-)

i would say that Inertia by Jega is definately the most emotional piece of electronica that i've heard, it has an ice cold beauty to it

    Secede - Crave & Fall
    Secede - Leraine

  • Too many to choose just one...

that is a really tough one, I would have to say "Swamp" by Midwest Product or maybe "Crapstone" by Khonnor. NO! I've got it, "Gunnera" by Isan.

Vletrmx21 by Autechre is probably the most emotional song for me. Faintly dying chords. Static. Even better with "surface noise" from vinyll.

  • soulvaki space station
    Early Rings

I could list several more but it would trivialise the emotional validity and impact these two absolutely amazing songs have had on me. I know this post will be lost to the void, shot out onto the internet super-highway to be trampled like roadkill under long-haul data transfers taking the forms of big trucks... but damnit... its important you listen to these two tracks.
