Description:
pretty self-explanatory...

- Are you tired of your friends raving about the newest Grizzly Bear, Muse or Arctic Monkeys' single,
only to question them further and find they only know 3 of the band's songs?

- Do you listen to music seldom played on your local radio stations?

- Do you just like joining random last.fm groups?

Then this group is for you!

It's been almost 50 years now that almost every recorded musician has bigger and bolder works called albums, and aside from concerts they are the artistic focus of pretty much everyone. Singles remain only as introductions to the artist's music (almost advertisements) and celebrative reasons. Nowadays you have tons of compilations and can pick songs at random, and that can be fun sometimes, you can rearrange intersting selections by theme, compare stuff, etc. But even that is pointless if you're not familar with a fair number of albums first. And if you really like the band, why the hell would you want to remain on the surface of their work? I don't get it.

I listen more singles than full albums. This doesn't mean I enjoy less music than anyone.

I used to listen to full albums before, until I got tired of it, I doesn't enjoy nothing, i used to hear entire albums like 6 per day and sometimes from the same band, there comes a point where you drown and you do not even like what you hear, you hear three albums one day and the next day you hear 4 more and forget about the others you hear before and they get lost, so now i just listen to 3 or two songs by album that way i can appreciate more the music and enjoy it, I actually like songs that I doesn't like before, I say this from experience, enjoy by song that way you really appreciate it, enjoy life by little, you not need to rush :)

"It's for appreciating music for what it's intended to be," Not really. That much should be up to the listener to decide for themselves. Plus albums are a relatively modern thing, back in the 50s for example, records couldn't hold many songs on them so the focus was on singles. This coming from someone who almost exclusively listens to full albums.

Ain't pretentious, son. It's for appreciating music for what it's intended to be, which is most certainly not the random function playing popular singles on your iPod.

I usually just listen to music using the iTunes DJ feature. Sometimes I add favorite songs, sometimes I add full albums. But yeah, I'm not even sure which songs are singles anymore, except for older music back from when I actually used to listen to the radio. :p

There are times for shuffle, but albums are the way to go if you want to dig deeper. Which means the artists listened to have to have some depth.
