Description:
This is a spin off to the incredible I Still Buy CDs group which was getting a little too game-obsessed.

Looking for a game to play? Come and join us down at [Game] The Music Elite and see if your taste makes you a winner among players!

This group is for discussion and few games. Please discuss. We all encourage it.

Concept

The idea was made by HumanRejection who saw the game obsessed forums of I Still Buy CDs and wanted to clean it up a little. However, taken by the responses many felt it was either too harsh, wouldn't work or needed a new form of place to converse in.

The concept was then finalised by the active members of this group and is not intended to defeat or compete with its parent group.

Introduce Yourself first.

Group Discussions

You can make a thread within the forum at your own free will. It can be a game (but these are strictly moderated) or a discussion of some aspect of music in general (highly recommendable) but it does not matter what about.

The only thing you must remember is to keep your threads very long and have enough fact for the other members to debate with you on certian aspects of your discussion.

Please spread this group around. If it is not for me, do it for the survival of discussion type groups!

Group leader HumanRejection was banned for 'spamming' and all the threads he started in this group were deleted. Seems a bit over the top, but it's the most exciting thing that's happened in this group in a long while!

There is a sale going on at my local Book-Off shop. Picked up 7 CDs at 20% off. That's 4 singles, 1 CD+DVD combo (a steal at $1.60) and 2 albums. I'm happy... :)

Also, a general message: why not consider putting the url to this group (http://www.last.fm/group/I+Still+Buy+and+Discuss+CDs) in your last.fm forum signature? We might as well all promote this splendid group a little more, I daresay.

Message to leader: would you mind accepting pending journals? I've got three of those, which happen to be fairly related to this group, and may be of interest to several of its members.

I'm in your group, making it a little more active. For whatever reason, I didn't get interested in joining when it was first created, but now it's appealing!

One guy told me about the strange tune "hocus pocus" by focus. So I bought their three first CDs and I call myself impressed with the sound. Very unique.

Ah, the old vinyl/CD debate. I know a few people who go on about how much better the sound is on vinyl, and true it does sound much better on their high end Linn etc deck verses thier budget level CD player. I still love vinyl, just prefer CDs and they sound so much better (on my expensive CD player vs old cheapo phono deck...).

This group needs more advertising. And I advertise enough groups as it is...

I wouldn't say they're better at all. I'd say that both an analog and a digital form are necessary to truly get the most out of music.

So CD's are better because they're a compromise?

  • xtiandeth

both have their pros, both have their cons. In the end, I think it's about equal between the two

Since when do you listen to music for it's convenience? ;)

True, but for quality vinyl wins out.
