    Best Christmas songs

yes it's christmas in july this summer, and we think it's time to reconceptulaize christmas music. every christmas the malls and radio stations will play the same old songs, sometimes re-recorded by popular entertainers of today. but for us, we need a little something more. so better to discuss christmas music now, rather than in another 5 months when we're already worn out of it.
so what goes on your christmas mixtape?

as you probably already notcied, we took this concept a little further on our blog, and created our our xmas in july mixtape. what do you think of track listings? what inclusions of unusual/original holiday tunes would you include? let us know here, since everyone in the group is once again availible for to win a copy of the mixtape

  • Again, I've taken a few liberties here:

    Big Star - PlayJesus Christ
Replacements - Bundle Up (It's on Boink!!, a semi-legal b-sides collection. I've never seen a copy in a store; a friend of mine burned one for me. It's definitely a Christmas song, though, with elves shooting up and everything.)
    The Kinks - PlayFather Christmas
The Ramones - Merry Christmas, I Don't Want to Fight
Pogues - Fairytale of New York (already mentioned)
Joni Mitchell - PlayRiver (not totally a Christmas song, but I love it, and like to play it around the holidays.)

    Will beta test for food.

It's that time of year again, but we've already made at least one Xmas mixtape. Still, it is the season for giving. Did you like our original xmas in july mixtape, or should we make it an indie rock xmas this year?
