It was a bold move writing a Symphonie Fantastique, but it certainly lives up to the name. Marche au Supplice is tremendous and Harold in Italy is really nice (Allegretto- March of the Monks singing Evening-Prayers). Plus, as much as I love Wagner, and all due respect to Gounod, he wrote the best Faust interpretation.

Berlioz's musical connections should be Christoph Gluck, Franz Liszt, Carl Maria von Weber, Gaspare Spontini, Beethoven, and or any others that make sense.
