joanofarctan - cheers for the info. I was thinking about writting a .net wrapper library to serialize and deserialize the requests and responses to/from .net objects - or would that break a rule because I didn't code that on the day? Does it have to be a web app, or can I write a Win32 app? If it has to be a web app, can I write it in ASP.NET 2.0? How are you going to test the apps, on the dev environment, or will you want the binaries and setup instructions? cheers, crash.

The venue is kitted out with a fat wifi connection and we'll have more than enough tables and chairs on the day. @crashsmoke - you will need an api key, but you can get one for free at http://www.last.fm/api/account if you don't already have one. I will run through all that in my introduction talk on the day.

"I don't understand - are you supposed to turn up there and create an app in just 6 hours??" Yep! Thats why its called hack day - I don't think the code has to be production quality, just hack it together so it works!

FYI - It's bring your own hardware- any platform you like... And you have to use the Last.fm api. You can code in MS Visual Studio. You'll be handed a USB stick when you arrive with api client libraries in several languages, plus some goodies from the band playing.

Looking at the API, you can code in .NET using Visual Studio if you want. It would be nice if there was some more info up here tho!! Do I need a laptop? USB stick? Do I need an API token?

I'm sorry about the mix up - anyone over the age of eighteen can attend and join in the Hack Day of course. The UK restriction is just for the prizes we're giving away (silly legal restrictions we can't do anything about I'm afraid).
