• Saving on atheism.

    19 Nov 2006, 11:36 by jacky88

Why is atheism better than christianity? There are many obvious reasons, but I'd like to point out the one that's being frequently omitted. Money. And Time. But time is money, so I guess I'm not making any sense. Let's get to the point.

Let's say you're an average christian, go to church every Sunday, donate some money, leave and pray every day before sleep. Here's what you waste:

    1) an average mass (and getting to it) takes about an hour and a half; if you go to church for 60 years straight, you lose 52*1,5*60 = 4680 hours. That's more than half a year you could spend banging chicks in Hawaii or beating up midgets in some third world country.

    2) an average prayer takes five minutes; again, if you do that for 60 years, you lose 365*5*60/60 = 1825 hours. This is more than two months you could use to shoot hundreds of ferrets for fur. Or just for fun, it doesn't really make any difference.

    3) at an average mass one leaves about $1,50 (that's a rough guess, but whatever); the calculations are therefore the same as in point one and you practically throw away 4680 dollars' worth of money. Don't even get me started on what you might do with that.

I might have pointed out some more advantages, but I don't want to. Bye.
  • How Emo Am I? :teehee

    13 Jun 2006, 22:10 by serenitysedai

Do I love silly things like this?

    Yes. :D

    1. Take your top ten artists and get their 'emo rating'.
If you look on the artist page and then click
"Tags" you can see how many times they've been tagged "Emo":

    Green Day 198 (wtf lol)
    The Grates 0
    The Decemberists 43
Bloodhound Gang 27 (again I say, wtf)
    The Network 1 (lol)
    The White Stripes 54
    Garbage 36
    Tenacious D 19
    The Streets 11
    Eminem 25 (w...t...f...)

    2. Add them all together and divide by 10 to get the average:

    3. Then divide that by the average of the top ten emo artists, which is: 957.9 (number is updated from where I got it)

    4. Multiply your result by 100 to get a percentage.
    4.3% emo

I'd better get my black eyeliner out :P
  • Quizzes, tests and A-Z entries : Ban them.

    10 Jun 2006, 01:43 by Jazz13

Stop it. I'm sick of reading them. I'm sick of looking at them, I'm sick of having them recommended to me. I don't care how mainstream, emo, or gangsta yo shit is. So here's my test for how bullshit you are. Take the amount of Quizzes you've written (A), then add the amount of Tests you've done (B) and finally, add in the number of A-Z entries you've done (C).

Take figures A, B, C, and add them together, which will create the sum (D).
Here is the formula. A+B+C=D. Now compare your (D) sum to the chart below.

    If D =
1-5 entries - You're a n00b and I'll forgive you. Stop writing sophomoric journal entries and put your time into something constructive.
6-10 entries - You need serious help. Perhaps you should join a quilting bee or some bowling leagues. Stop writing entries immediately and immediately find a seedy dive where you can drink yourself unconscious. When you wake up in an alley the next day, limit your journal entries to just one paragraph musings.
    10+ entries - Kill yourself.

    That is all.
  • Fly... errr

    31 May 2006, 11:41 by coxy

For those of you that are fans of bands like blink-182, Frenzal Rhomb, NOFX and Green Day, get yourselves down to a Pickled Dick gig this summer.

They will be playing a load of cool songs, probably some new ones, and they have a new drummer for this tour! Good olde Marky is taking a break.

So, grab a few mates, find a venue and get a bit drunk as Pickled Dick fondle your ears in both a metaphorical and literal sense. Then watch Adequate 7.

Get the flyer as a dektop wallpaper by clicking on the flyer. Wicked!
  • Interested in music? yeessss?

    17 May 2006, 14:11 by dontquoteme

Well, of course you are. So I've set up a new group:Later...with Jools Holland which is just about music. It's nothing to do with age,a certain musical taste, stereotypes etc. This group is primarily for those of you who are familiar with the music show run by the former Squeeze amazing pianist. But even if you've never heard of him or the show, I'd still invite you to join because it's a great way to hear about bands that you'd probably never have heard about otherwise and discover new, interesting music and give your opinions.

Previous artists on the show this series have been:
    Rodrigo y Gabriela
John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Spinto Band (their first ever TV appearance)
    We Are Scientists
    The Zutons
    Corinne Bailey Rae
    Pearl Jam
    Jenny Lewis
    Jamie Foxx
    Richard Ashcroft

This is the show that introduced the world to Franz Ferdinand and KT Tunstall, and look how successful they've become. So, even if you don't like Franz or KT, based on Jools' selection of some of the best new talent around, you could find yourself some new music to love and boast to your friends about :).

For those of you in the UK: Friday evenings at 11.30 on BBC2 tends to be around when it starts - watch it!

Thanks for reading this, and I hope to see you join: Later...with Jools Holland

K I do actually really like this band, but I just got some more stuff by them and was listening to My Dream Girl Don't Exist and would like to point out that the guitar line is exactly the same sounding as When I Come Around

  • How many of your top ten have you seen live?

    5 May 2006, 18:32 by Trayceee

    1 Everclear

No, never seen them, and never will, seeing as they're not together anymore.

    2 Reel Big Fish

Yeah, saw them this year :D Yay!

    3 Ash

Seen them twice, first time supporting Robbie Williams, they were amazing. Second time saw them in a small local venue which was also really good, even though they played the whole of Meltdown, which wasn't even out at the time. I also met them at a signing in Virgin Megastore on my birthday a couple of years ago, and they were lovely :)

    4 blink-182

Also seen twice, first time at Wembley which was good, and then second time in Nottingham and it was amazing. I'm still sad they've split up.

    5 Bright Eyes

Nope never seen them, love to though.

    6 Jimmy Eat World

Saw them supporting in Green Day, was really nice, I'd like to see them on their own though.

    7 Green Day

Seem twice, first time in Birmingham, was miiiiles away from them, but was still pretty good. Second time in Milton Keynes which was amazing cos it was outside, sunny day, and I was so close to the front, although the show was exactly the same as the first time I saw them, which was a bit disappointing.

    8 Anti-Flag

Haven't seen them yet, but going to on the 13th of May! Yay!!

    9 Taking Back Sunday

Again, saw them supporting Green Day.

    10 NOFX
Never seen them, but would love to.

  • Guess The Song

    15 Apr 2006, 23:10 by Trayceee

Put your media player on random and select a lyric from each of the first 25 songs that come up, then allow everyone to guess the song and take a song off your list once it has been guessed correctly. (Using a search engine is CHEATING!)

    3. I need someone to believe in, but I don't think that it's you
    8. There's something about you that tears me inside out whenever you're around
