Last.fm Greasemonkey Group Updates to Profile and Homepage

    Built upon those two versions:
Last.fm - Get last reply date by snyde1
Last.fm Greasemonkey Group Updates to Homepage by syntax_error
It also uses my library to display items in the settings page.

This script merges the above scripts in one. Then you can be kept up to date with this forum's famous thead on both your profile page and your homepage.

Moreover, you can configure it. Tell it to display the information where you want and to hide this information once you've visited the thread (fully working, even with middle click, @syntax_error -> mousedown, not click).

To configure the script, go to your settings (http://www.last.fm/settings), click on the "GreaseMonkey Scripts" tab, check or unchecked the boxes. You're done!

Should (but not tested) also work on i18n-ed version on the site.

    Download it here

    In action:

    On the profile page:

    The configuration page:

  • Thanks for the addEventListener. I just figured it out today but you are damn fast. :-)
I think I will focus now on xmlhttpRequest code to make it less cryptic.

  • Thanks, added!

  • Awesome, thanks!

I only wish it were a bit smaller font, so it's less in your face, but that's a minor complaint.

  • Hmm... this doesn't seem to be working now? I just posted an update but not seeing notification anywhere. I have both options checked (now).

The update was correctly displayed (all options checked too) here. Anyone to confirm that there's a bug in my script?

    Worked for me...

“I didn’t mean to kill nobody,I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Him dying was between him and the Lord.” - R.L. Burnside
  • It definitely didn't work for me. Not that I really need it but it's the first thing I check after I make an update. Simply didn't appear for me. It *was* working so maybe it's a conflict. I can't be bothered to test it though. As long as everyone else is getting them, it doesn't really matter.

  • I saw the update, and it's no longer there after reading the update, so it seems to be WAD for me.

the homepage worked for me but the profile page didn´t

  • I didn't look at the home page (rarely do), but it worked on my profile.

I only looked because I´m in Argentina staying with a friend at the moment and his bookmarks lead to the home page. Otherwise I wouldn´t look either.

worked well here too (both profile & home pages).

  • No, it's definitely not working here and I have a theory about it. The thread is getting marked as read either when I post to it or when I re-lock it, so the notification never shows up on my page. Something about it the way the forum works has changed since they brought the reply tracker back or since they added forum search. One or the other. It was working before those two features re-appeared. Since none of you can post to that thread anyway, it won't matter for you. I just think it's odd.

  • That's probably it, it's not new for you. Today I checked both home and profile, and it worked on both pages. I love the way it goes away when it's no longer unread, so I don't have to remember the date/time of the last post I read anymore.

Yep', that's a great feature. thx to syntax_error for it.

@spacefish: I can't debug it if the bug comes from the fact that you're the group owner or something. Probably something wrong with the regexp used. But yeah, I think you're quite up to date with this thread ;)

  • No biggie. It's just odd that it worked before but not now.

Please pull my older script from the list on the front page. With both Alan71 and syntax_error having better versions, there's really no need for it any more.

Did I hear that right? Mondegreens - for the misheard word.
Like Odds? Can't get better than Even Odds!
  • Done!

  • Apparently, last.fm made another change which has consequently made this script start working again. :P

    Tiny update

Page masks have been updated (this script is loaded on less pages). No feature added.

@spacefish: Last.fm behave weirdly recently. pages aren't always displayed in the same way. Sometimes I still have old versions (without the paint it black theme etc...)

  • 'Last.fm Greasemonkey Group Updates to Homepage' won't install on my Firefox/GreaseMonkey..is this known or am I just fucked?

    It's working on my version of FF3 / up-to-date-greasemonkey.

But there's currently a bug with displaying the updates on the profile page. I will take a look at it soon.

Check your homepage, the last update date should be displayed on the top-right corner. A new tab ("GreaseMonkey scripts") should be available in your settings.

  • It fetches the script and I can press 'install', but it won't install, even if I download the *.js file to my pc and install it locally...
