It was working, but it looks like LyricWiki is currently down.

  • Looks like it's working again (at least for me).

  • wow!

I am traveling, and using my son's computer at his home, so I don't want to add this now. But I can't wait to get home and add it! I love music, lastfm and LYRICS! Thank you so much for making this! :) Even if it ends up not working for me, I am grateful! :)

  • Feature request

    Very nice customizable interface. Kudos!

Would it be possible to make the syrics appear for the current track playing in the player? I think those are URLs of the form http://www.last.fm/listen/*
If you could get it to work for (radio, tag, playlist) stations, that'd be super!

I don't use the radio player on the website, and since Last.fm recently responded to the demand for lyrics (although only in North America, for now), I'm not very motivated to spend time on that feature. Plus, you can find other scripts for that purpose.

Anyway, I just modified the script to reflect the changes that were made to track pages in the last site update.

Track names entirely in parentheses confuse this script, not that it's a big deal: (Hidden Track).

    Still loving this script!

Found another minor issue: the script tries to add lyrics to artist image pages (such as this one). I'm not sure what the best way to exclude those pages would be.

  • hasn't worked for me for a while :(

  • Last.fm have updated on June 3 and the script didn't work anymore . Anybody release a fix for this ?

  • I love that script! I have added many lyrics, too. My deepest honor and my gratitude to the author... Thank you for a good thing! For us all, I do hope that someone with this talent could rewrite the script for us! It was wonderful!

I have now posted a new version that is adapted to the new song pages.

As requested, Bloopy, the script now excludes image, video and news pages. The confusion you mention with parentheses comes from LyricWiki's web service, so I'm not going to do anything about it.

Also, as requested, when lyrics are unavailable, a search link is shown.

    Enjoy :)

Unfortunately, due to licensing restrictions from some of the major music publishers we can no longer return lyrics through the LyricWiki API (where this application gets some or all of its lyrics).

The lyrics for this song can be found at the following URL:
    ...
seems like this will be a permanent problem.
maybe the script should show a clickable link to the respective lyricwiki page from now on, until another solution is found...

  • damn, this sucks. I love this script!

I guess the script could get the lyrics directly from the page, but that might be breaking LyricWiki's rules. :/

As announced by LyricWiki founder Sean Colombo on Sunday and as shown in the responses from the API, LyricWiki has now disabled retrieval of lyrics through the API in response to demands from publishers.

I had the same idea as Bloopy, and have for the time being changed the script to grab the lyrics directly from the wiki pages instead. This means the script will be a bit slower, since search and retrieval of lyrics now requires separate requests.

    That was quick, nice work!

It's Halloween all year round over here: Chronic Halloween Syndrome
  • Boy, that was nice indeed! The way I did this was to go to tools/greasemonkey/managescripts and uninstall lyrics. Then I closed Firefox and reopened it. Then I went to the script link that esc4p1st just posted above, which takes you here; and I installed the new script. Then, I closed and reopened Firefox and the fix was in!!! Thank you Einar! You add so much to this website community with your kindness, imagination, and skill!

You don't need to do that for Greasemonkey scripts. At least, I don't.

LyricWiki has been migrated to Wikia, and the REST API seems to have been disabled entirely.

I have updated the script to fetch the wiki pages directly, since it can no longer use the search functionality of the old LyricWiki API. This probably means that lyrics will be found for fewer track pages, but I'm not sure.

  • thanx it's working ..

  • Now, it seems that Lyrics Wiki has disabled the editing of lyrics by pasting text. Before this, I added a lot of lyrics. Now, I won't be doing that; and it makes me sad that so many great lyrics will not get posted by me or many others. http://lyrics.wikia.com/LyricWiki_talk:Wikia_Migration_FAQ

  • Is it?

Is it working at all now? I don't think so. If someone is having this work for them, please let me know. Thanks.
