Since the release of their debut album, ‘A guide to love, loss and desperation’ in 2007, The Wombats have been touring almost non-stop. They’ve already played all the major festivals and built a huge fan base across the world along the way. So, this being their homecoming gig in the capital of culture 2008 and the last of the current album, it was bound to be an epic one and they really did pull off an amazing show.

As the arena filled up, support came form Team Waterpolo and Alphabeat who warmed the crowd up, building the anticipation for the return of the trio to the brand new Echo arena.

Rancid

Rancid are one of the biggest names in modern day punk. With both gold and platinum certified albums under their belts and with friends in the 'biz ranging from Green Day to Buju Banton to Iggy Pop to Cypress Hill. To get to this stage you have to have done something pretty special during your career. However, in the 5 years since the bands last studio album, there has been more focus on frontman Tim Armstrong's split with Distillers singer Brody Dalle and his work with less credible artists in the punk world like P!nk than there has been on the band. So have they still got what it takes to demand such a legacy?

I have to say first off that I hadn’t heard much of Infadels prior to the gig, so it was with a largely open mind that I arrived at Manchester’s Roundhouse. I have to say secondly that this was my first time at the venue. Now, here’s a venue that really took me back. I won’t say how long, but I have fond memories of a local venue where I saw the likes of Vinegar Joe, Thin Lizzy and The Heavy Metal Kids. I dare say that ages me! Anyway, it is an ideal venue to see up-coming bands who have a small but dedicated following. It’s a cellar venue that would hold I’d say about a couple of hundred, but it was about half full for Infadels.

Have had a lot of luck with photo passes recently! They're quality. I'm shooting my first show in a week (they haven't replied yet) or in March. Went to the Kooks gig back in December, which was brilliant.

In regards to photo passes, you want to ask the promoter. Or preferably the tour manager, but good luck trying to get hold of one of those! I'll have a think about suggestions and get back to you!

Regarding JustBoy57's comment, I'd be happy to put your tunes in my playlist, though annoyingly there's no player on the group page (If anyone knows if and how to get one please let me know). If you can get a friend to do a review of one of your gigs I'll put it in one of the review slots for sure and if you want to do a press pack or band bio or whatever you're welcome to put it in the group journal and I'll do what ever I can to help.

Regarding Agent_Cormac's comment, I'm hoping to find a way to get thumbnails on the group page with links to Flickr or something, try and build a huge database of user gig photos. Also if anyone has any insight on who to speak to about press passes, is it the venue or is it the promoter's??

I'd love this place more if you guys were to support unsigned artists. For example, I plan on releasing a free EP in the next month or two, and if you guys were to maybe promote it via blog, send a message to loads of people or whatever, that'd be totally awesome.

Maybe gig photographers around the country? I'd be quite happy to goto gigs just to take photos especially with my shiney SLR. Would even be happy to contribute to ticket costs if required if it could be arranged for press access to get the better photos/clearance to take photos etc... Just an idea, you could have a few around the country and gather a huge collection of gig photography. I'd be rubbish writting reviews to go with the pics but could always give it a go!
