Description:
So, are you one of those people who absolutely hate having your music files mistagged? The artist has to be correct, the title the proper title, the track listed for the correct album, and all...

The term "tags" for this group is referring to the data on the music files on a person's hard drive. Those are the ones that better be fixed.

If you're concerned about what people are taggin items with the website's tagging system, go elsewhere.

Note: Due to massive levels of journal whoring by people, any journals submitted to the group that are clearly irrelevant will result in the submitter being kicked out. Multiple submissions of this type will result in banning. Don't be stupid, and don't be an attention whore, and you're all good.

@ktmf, that page links to an official style guideline, since it's 'official' it's not as updated as the one that they are using currently. This is a better guide IMO: http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/Classical_Style_Guide (not official though)

For tagging classical music (which is very often non-trivial) I use the MusicBrainz style guideline. Probably useful: http://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Classical

New problem: More and more users start scrobbling from Spotify. Too many ugly-tagged songs.

I once came across a journal or something that explained how to best tag your music. An overview that said not to use '(Original Mix)', how to tag collaborations, how to tag 'feat.' etc. All in one journal or something. Does someone know the url of that info? Please leave a shout at my profile if you do, I want to pass that info to some new last.fm users.

Note to self: never again read group shoutboxes in order to sustain your faith in man's ability to read group descriptions. Should illiteracy prevent that, they would not be able to post anything at all.

Sure it stinks when I see my favourite artist with the most used tag "under 2000 listeners" so that none will ever listen it on the radio nor will find it with a tag research. And so on...

Why care about other people's tags, for real? It still sounds the same for them as well. :3 Besides, it's not always easy to say what's "right" and what's not! (And why aren't those major music playing programs' databases convergent if this was so damn important? :P) ((2))

I don't care about the charts, as long as the damn tags are right.
