I agree she is not the worst, but the overhype kills me....Nominated for an NME award - seriously??? Her album just dropped this week. I think Tori's muse, who was a castrating, angsty, horny creature doesn't exist anymore. Happy and mature is not good for good music.

  And to me, Tori Amos' problem on her recent albums is that she lets herself get bogged down in gratuitous concepts that don't make any sense (e.g. how The Beekeeper was all about gardens and different songs belonged to different gardeners and shit, even though none of the songs actually had much of anything to do with gardening. Really, Tori? Could you try going back to the days when your "concept" was "just an album of good songs that you don't need to live inside my head to decipher"?)

  Lana del Rey, to me, is certainly overhyped but not terrible; I like her music well enough when it's playing, but it doesn't seem to stick. She seems like candy to me: she certainly has her place, but a lot of the time you need a real meal instead.

Female artists always fuck up but she ws mediocre at best to begin with.. i think we're just craving a female artists who harkens back to the days when there were many amzing ones- like Bjork, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos before she got knocked up and began producing Summers Eve Commercial music..and tons of other amazing ones that are lesser profiled but still put out amazing music... now.. every other year you might hear someone who sound really genuine and interesting.. the rest are clones of clones.

  I take it back. Lana Del Rey sucks. Soon she will be a primped and tailored to be grungy yet nostalgically classy diva. Producing terrible live performances and highly edited single tracks.
