Description:
Because Metallica is the worst band in the world, followed closely by Pearl Jam.

Also, Kanye West should shut his mouth and make beats.

Whether or not the rumors that MTV bought Bonnaroo are true, one thing is certain: Bonnaroo sold the fuck out. The headliners this year are a joke. Have the organizers no respect for the people who have been attending year after year and look forward to a great festival with great music?

Fuck Metallica.

Really?

I'm glad people who do things like that will have fun at Bonnaroo this year.

For everyone else, there is the Rothbury Festival.

It's in Michigan.

I disagree wit you, Salimos. If anyone made Rothbury look sold out it would have been Dave. Not Modest Mouse, 311 nor State Radio. And Rothbury was down right amazing. I bet the Roo was also. Lets all stop talking about what bands made the fests seem "sold out" and start talking about the ones that made it raw as fuck. One of the best shows at Rothbury was definatly Primus. Best show to see on the 4th. And STS9... amazing. They played a four and a half hour set. Bassnectar friday night was amazing also. It was like the 90's club scene all over again for four hours.

But I will say this; Metallica is NOT the worst band ever. Limp Bizkit is, followed closely by Linkin Park. And then Evanescence and then ICP and THEN Metallica. Duh

Oh Bonnaroo was indeed FUN. I got trashed, saw some great bands and had a wonderful time. Theres nothing cooler than hearing great music from iconic artists from the horizon. I didnt see Metallica. I thought getting drunk at the campsite was a little more important, but I did hear them from the distance in a port-o-potty. I also heard Pearl Jam from a distance as we had to leave them early to catch Brian Posein's comedy bit. I'm now on YouTube because one of my friends passed out during Zach Galifiniakis's set and he was all up in her grill, just search YouTube; Zach Galifiniakis Bonnaroo crowd improv. We listened to Battles from the Galifiniakis line and waited til 4am for Kanye. We missed him and now he hates Bonnaroo. He should join this group and go play Rothbury because he is a stuck up punk. A talented stuck up punk. I feel personally honored that I could be a part of the event that made him more mad than he had ever been. That plastic surgeon that killed his mom must be a saint.

The term sell out is stupid and vague as hell. Music is music. People come to TN if they want to see what they want to see, even if those bands are what you call 'mainstream' Trust me, there were enough obscure acts to find as well. The social atmosphere, art, and environmentalism are pluses too. Bonnaroo was the shit. The fact that people of so many diverse tastes can come together is quite amazing, and the experience is something I look forward to each year. Now, the rothbury fesival does share a lot of acts, and there are is a good emphasis on electronic music that I'd want to see, such as diplo, theivery corp, etc. I go to school in michigan and I'm happy the electronic scene is lively there. And wouldn't you saw that dave mathews and 311 are 'sellouts?' Please.. By no means am I a fan, but Bonnaroo took a gutsy move in making metallica a headliner and it paid off (though I cant say the same thing about kanye west). This is the same festival that headlined the police and radiohead in previous years. It makes sense to not have the same headliners each year to fall into the same genres. To me, it shows just how inclusive the festival is. So don't denigrate the best festival in the country cause it appeals to people of all backgrounds. I've seen the the best shows at the roo, the flaming lips, wilco, chromeo, MGMT, MIA, vamp wknd, tiesto, girl talk, sigur ros, spoon, dj shadow, feist, the national.. to name a few.

Oh, and MTV didn't buy Bonnaroo. Stop spouting what others have told you and do your research. I'm not a Metallica fan, and expected to hate the show, but they were great and had one of the best crowds of the weekend. People just rocking out and sining and having a good time. To single them out as "meathead metalheads" is ignorant. That's like calling everyone who listens to jam bands hippies. And I love hippies. You also can't yell "sellout" at a festival for booking a diverse lineup. Rothbury has some of the same bands Bonnaroo does this year and has had before, but Bonnaroo has M.I.A., Sigur Ros, The Swell Season, MSTRKRFT. They ably mix jambands and bands that fall nowhere near that category. That's what sets Bonnaroo apart from other festivals

To quote an article I read, Rothbury is a carbon copy of the Bonnaroo of yore. Kanye West was the one mistake this year. Metallica turned out to be great

bonnaroo sold out? why are snoop dogg, modest mouse, state radio, john mayer, and 311 playing rothbury if they haven't sold out? Bonnaroo was amazing, say what you want about selling out, there were plenty of amazing acts there.

Bonnaroo was fucking awesome. That Kanye shit was lame as fuck and I did sleep in a giant field during the middle of Metallica while listening to people ask each other why anyone would possibly sleep during a Metallica set, but all in all it was amazing. It was very close to being as good as last year's bonnaroo, and there were bands that easily beat many of my favorite shows from last year. Don't hate just because the headliners were mainstream.

I went to Bonnaroo last year and it was great, i did notice that soem of the kids didnt really fit with with the traditional bonnaroo/festival scene, but it was still worth going. This year though, theres a lot more 'main stream' bands.

yeah... because your average meathead metal-loving douchebag is going to make a roadtrip to the middle of nowhere in TN for 1 band...chill out, it's not coachella where it's right outside a major city...people who go to bonnaroo are pretty dedicated and i don't think the people you're talking about care that much.

I was at Bonnaroo the last two years. Best times of my life. I actually like Metallica. Kirk Hammett is my favorite guitarist. But putting a metal headliner at what has always been primarily a jam band festival is the worst idea ever. Let's throw a bunch of metalhead hippie-haters along with a bunch of tripping hippies and see what happens. Fuck that. Rothbury will quickly become the next Bonnaroo

Colbie Callait, Snoop Dogg, 311? Really... they are worth fighting over? There are suck artists at both festivals. There are awesome artists at both festivals. Music should bring people together, build community. If I had infinite money, I'd go to both. Or maybe all the money would change me so much I'd not go to either. Anyway, my point is that everyone here needs to chill out.
