    For the newbies

Why is FreeBSD better than Windows 7, OSX, or the latest Kubuntu?

In fact, the Brazilian cattle industry is the largest single source of deforestation anywhere in the world. And deforestation in turn causes one-fifth of all the greenhouse gas emissions in the world, more than all the world’s cars, trucks, trains, planes, and ships combined.” - Lindsey Allen

    .

    1) osx = clumsy modified bsd 4.3 / windows 4 lulz / kubuntu's based on debian.. and it is enought to say
    2) optimisation (modular system) - like all *nix systems
    3) safety & stability
    4) ports (> 18 000 apps at one place)
    5) and more..

honestly, i switched to Gentoo, it is more up-to-date & has better dependencies subsystem

    What's wrong with Debian GNU/Linux and apt-get?

Gentoo is GNU/Linux as well. So BSD has a better architecture but is lacking drivers and such because fewer people use it?
