Description:
A group dedicated to the underrated master guitarist Faraz Anwar.

This guy is a genius - comparable to the likes of Joe Satriani and John...

Faraz Anwar is a Pakistani progressive metal guitarist known for his solo instrumental work and his band Mizraab. Born on 15th July, 1977 in Karachi, Faraz picked up a guitar after seeing a video of guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen.

He started off his career in 1990 as a session guitarist playing for many different musicians and bands before composing a solo album and forming Mizraab.

His solo album, Abstract Point of View, brought him to international acclaim. It was released on Gnarly Geezer Records in 2001 owned by the legendary jazz guitar player Allan Holdsworth and recorded in his studio in only four months. As a self-proclaimed disciple of Allan, who Faraz sees as an inspiration, the earning of his musical appreciation following the recording of the album was a defining moment in his career. Allan himself is quoted referring to Faraz as the "King of Guitars in Pakistan".

It is also notable that Faraz Anwar is the first Pakistani guitar player to release an album internationally and received both a scholarship and Outstanding Musical Achievement Award from Berklee in 1996.
