  in EU you also have VAT, gas tax, road tax and "green tax" hidden in the prices, so how can anything be cheap in EU? it can't. EU is far more enslaving than communist Poland of the 70s or 80s, for that matter.

  So communist countries (no taxes, becouse the government decided how much to pay you) must have been really liberal. Regulations cripple much more than taxes, it's just not so obvious. Example: the cheap-as-hell (indian) TATA motors car (becouse of the need to adjust to EU regulations) would cost four times more in EU than in India. And it's like that with everything.

  Belarus has the lowest taxes and the least regulations in economy. That's why it is the freest country in Europe now ;)

  Since the first day of 2009, Byeloruss is the most free country in Europe (economically speaking of course). I wonder if it will be recorde by IoEF or will they rather dump Byeloruss on some low place because Lukashenko is a satrap :LOL;

  Is IoEF reliable enough to even consider it? is it not partial to Israel, and prejudiced toward Arabic countries per se? I don't know what criteria were used to judge UAE less free than Israel, but on a sane mind, would a fascist country with coercive draft be more liberal than a business Mecca?

  hm update: Index of Economic Freedom 2009 says Israel #42 and UAE #54. Without the minimal Taxation the rank of the UAE would be even worse.
