    May is Yam spelled backwards. The yam comes from the family Dioscorea, which contains the letters D-I-S-C-O. Indeed, it was the humble yam that pioneered the dance sensation after David The Yam showed Karen Lustgarden a routine he was working on in the early 1970's. This routine became known as 'The Hustle' and the rest is history. To this day the yam is referred to as the 'disco tuber'.
