Recently at last.fm, someone seems to have been able to get into user accounts, and make postings completely at odds with what the poster was known to do, when they were active @ last.fm.
Specifically, I noticed the account of the user 'obbrio' which has been in disuse for about 7 months, and now suddenly is posting shouts about about some promotion that sony is doing. Otherwise, there's no activity on that account, in other words, no scrobbling, et cetera.
Earlier this week, someone hacked into my facebook account, and although facebook locked my account until I changed my password, I find it worrying since I have used strong passwords on all accounts for the last 15 years online, and there have been no successful intrusions or hacks into my accounts, ever. I am compelled to conclude that someone on the facebook side of things, ie, on their administrative side, accessed, permitted someone to access, or perhaps they were hacked into on the server and administrative side.
If I see more of this activity, I will be compelled to close my social networking accounts, since having that type of uncertainty with my online presence is intolerable.
What have you noticed?
What have you done about it?
I regret to feel this way, since I can say many good things about last.fm and facebook. But, perhaps it is a time for a positive change.
BW RECKNAGEL's Debut Album "Nihilum" will be available on the digital distribution platform I-tunes from October 2009.
"Nihilum", the mesmerizing Debut Album of 10 classical piano compositions by London based, German composer BW RECKNAGEL, has been introduced in June 2009 via http://www.bwrecknagel.com and since enjoyed growing popularity amongst the online community. The new deal with I-tunes secures worldwide digital distribution and will add further exposure within the classical sector. The new deal includes the territories UK, USA, Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
BW RECKNAGEL’s music and style has proven to be very popular and it is well received by a lot of people all over the world. CCD Promotion's focus so far has been the online arena including digital Radio platforms such as Last FM with the main online strategies to come in autumn/winter this year. The second Album is already in the making and CCD are focusing on a long-term development with new features on the website such as the newly introduced monthly free download of one piano improvisation. Also, they are giving away the sheet music for all 10 racks with each download of the Album. Selling the Album via I-tunes now will give the customer the opportunity to purchase individual tracks.

Unlike other contemporary composers, BW RECKNAGEL has no accademical background in classical music but an interesting history which spans from a classical upbringing to a very active life in the music world and music industry in London since 1992.

Originally performed by Russian Pianist Xenia Russo, all pieces are more likely a description of mood and rather than being technically demanding, BW RECKNAGEL's work calls for a more intimate and personal context with a meditative approach.

Sorry I haven't been around lately but there was Imeem and Ilike, and I really can't stay faithful, I guess; but I was brought back to the Last.Fm fold when I thought a French Girl had written me a sexy letter (she turned out to be a really cool French Guy mandrak2000 who put all of my albums in his virtual library, comme ca - "Journal de mandrak2000 – Streamable album and Free download, the Virtual Library – Last.fm" http://bit.ly/MMjKm - so maybe I'll just have un l'homme-crush instead); then I flirted with a Polish girl, but when she found out I was American, it was over before it started... whatevs...her loss. This international website about objectùm-sexuality, (widely known as Objektophil in Germany), is designed to offer a support network for objectùm-sexuals (Objektophile) and education for friends and family about objectùm-sexuality (Objektophil), and insight into our way of accepting, living, and adapting as individuals who are in love with objects.
The internet offers amazing resources to make connections with others; old classmates, lost family members, and like-minded individuals.
Twelve years ago, Eija-Riitta Eklöf Berliner-Mauer from North Sweden took a chance and braved hoards of criticism from faceless critics on the internet in an effort to find others like her: people who love objects... objectùm-sexuals... aka OS people, also known as objectophiles.
Since then, Oliver Arndt from Germany and Erika Eiffel from America have built the largest network of objectum-sexual people from different countries. This website is not meant to change the minds of people… We are not looking for a following, rather a reckoning of other objectum-sexuals so we may provide support, realization, and hope to one another. Thank you for opening your mind and looking over the Fence.
2009.4.8 On the 2nd year anniversary of her commitment to the Eiffel Tower, Erika Eiffel is featured on ABC News Good Morning America
Erika's love and connection for objects throughout her life may have brought her misunderstanding and rejection but true to her deep rooted feelings, she has been empowered by her OS relationships to achieve amazing goals.
In the first media to address OS in the the United States, Dr. Amy Marsh shares her expertise as a clinical sexologist. Is OS a possible orientation rather than a paraphile?
2009.2.24 Objectum-sexuality found its way into the script of the US medical drama Nip/Tuck.
Dr Taper, a plastic surgeon hired to replace Dr. Troy is revealed to be OS.
The show alludes to his interest in a particular decor with various comments and verbal slips in early scenes. Later, alone in his office-to-be, Dr Taper romances Dr Troy's oak desk with a kiss and graduates to the sofa where he is caught in the act by Dr. Troy and McNamara.
Highly embarrassed Dr. Taper opts to reveal to the stunned doctors that he is objectum-sexual and briefly explains the definition of his OS, his belief in animism, and his attraction for perfection. He is subsequently requested to leave.
2009.2.8 Erika Eiffel was featured on RTL Punkt 12*, midday news in Germany. Filmed in Paris at the Eiffel Tower, Erika sets the record straight after an exploitative take on her OS in June 2008 nearly destroyed her relationship with the object of her affection. Focusing less on sexual sensationalizing and more on facts and psychological analysis, this documentary goes to the core of Erika's love and connection to the Eiffel Tower.
Krüger: What is going through your mind after seeing your latest film?
Eiffel: "Finally, RTL did it right! Wow, after suffering from the nasty fallout from that sensationalized paparazzi crap from the UK, RTL showed the reality of my objectum-sexual love.
Krüger: So where does this leave you now?
Eiffel: Well, I don't regret that I took part in the UK film because it brought some awareness to objectum-sexuality and helped our community grow. My only regret is that my naivety fell into the hands of a director with no regard for moral decency when portraying my love for objects. What one does in front of the camera when urged is very different from real life. I have never been open with my intimacy and that film was a load of crock to portray that I am.
Krüger: What made the difference if you don't mind explaining?
Eiffel: The RTL director was awesome! Thanks Stefan!!! Finally, I could say and express what I really felt and not what I was encouraged to for ratings. He never pushed me to discuss intimacy with objects, nor did he betray my trust when it came to sensitive topics.
You can see the difference because I am choppy and uptight in the UK film like I am reading my lines. I didn't like the director nor did I like the woman I was being filmed with because she was too overt about her sex with little regard to consequence.
In the RTL Film, I completely respected and trusted the director and I was free to speak with no pressure and no incessant questions about sex, nor staged sex scenes.
Krüger: Where to from here?
Eiffel: Well, my hope is that people will realize the difference between entertainment and real news and disregard the UK film because it is not the reality of Objectum-sexuality. Thanks again to Stefan and the crew at RTL!
2008.10.23 Oliver was featured in a documentary film for RTL2 in Germany. The preview:
A proud 37 years and 95 tons of steel separate Oliver from his - in the truest sense - large love. For most humans it is almost incomprehensible, but the 43-year old fell in love for real with a steam locomotive. For him the colossal of steel with its sexy smoke stack and the hot steam cylinders is like a human loving partner.
But then something tragic happens: His "Sahneschnittchen" disappears without a trace from the museum. On this day Oliver suffers intolerable grief. Allegedly his steel lover is to be disassembled in an abandoned locomotive shed. In hopes to have one last night with his darling, Oliver embarks on the search for the object of his longing.
2008.6 International media has taken a light to OS and featured the object marriages of Eija-Riitta Eklöf Berliner-Mauer and Erika Eiffel in numerous articles, radio interviews, and television programs. This is the first international recognition of Objectùm-Sexuality and while the media tends to be rather judgmental of OS and sensationalistic, we are pleased that people are "looking over the Fence" and even more pleased that others like us are realizing they are not one and alone in this world.
2008.4.5 - 6.15 The 5th Berlin Biennial for contemporary art features a exhibition on OS from the talented Norwegian artist, Lars Laumann. On the grounds of the former border strip in Berlin, the 30 min film captures the true essence of OS as a natural orientation as Eija-Riitta Berliner Mauer tells her account of being OS and what it means to love objects. The film briefly features Erika Eiffel who also loves the Berlin Wall today, how she found Eija-Riitta, and how they both came to accept their unique love of the Berlin Wall in past and present. And finally a stirring finale as Eija-Riitta openly shares her feelings about the fall of the Berlin Wall 9 November, 1989.
Interview with Lars
2008.5 Bizarre Magazine (UK) - a very informative article on OS featuring Eija-Riitta (Wall-Winther) and Erika (Kiowa): OS sisters who both love the Berlin Wall, how they found each other, and how they both love Berliner Mauer in the past and today. The original magazine article also featured photos and love poems for the Berlin Wall from both women.
NOTICE: OS Internationale does NOT sanction the 2008 UK film "Married to the Eiffel Tower" (Landmark Sex).
Despite featuring OSI members Eija-Riita Berliner Mauer and Erika Naisho Eiffel, this film is firmly denounced by the objectum-sexual community for its exploitative and sensationalized take on OS. With the majority of new artists failing to achieve recognition, throwing the towel in after disappointing sales and failing to maintain their market share, a policy of blame culture is the going rate amongst bands and musicians. Having worked in the industry for more than 15 years now, rest assured that it is always a case of somebody else’s fault, be it the record company, the promoter, the manager or the guitarist's girlfriend. Without taking sides in this article, it is worth while taking a look at an artist who has always managed to take matters in his own hands: Prince!
In 1992, at the height of his career, Prince had the guts to disconnect himself from his major record label and decided to continue on his own. With no major backing, no supportive hit singles and completely out of the industry machinery, Prince still managed to be the highest earner in 2004, sold out 21 nights in the London O2 arena in 2007 within seconds and just recently had a No.2 Album entry in the US Billboard charts. How come?
1. Prince Works
Despite his continues stream of songwriting, producing and releasing his own records, Prince constantly re-invents himself as time demands. He always plays live, experiments with his catalogue including new band set-ups, involves musicians and simply lives and breathes his music. By doing this, he has become one of the most fascinating musicians and live performer with a soverenity second to none. His work is not set, scheduled or in any other way determined by the usual release policies and routines dictated by the Record Company but simply out of his own desire to keep his music alive and exciting without any hang ups.
2. Being The Industry - Being A Marketing Genius
Bands/Musicians these days have two choices. One is the devil called Record Company, the other one is the saint called Internet. It is the devil they hate and the saint they don't understand. As a result, bands tend to sleep with different devils hoping the new one might be the lesser evil and, at the same time, praying that "doing a bit on the Internet" will, maybe one day, bring some ease to their continuous struggle. So what did Prince do already 15 years ago? He dumped the devil and became his own industry. Secondly, he embraced the then still very underdeveloped medium called the Internet. This was not done overnight, required incredible self-discipline and willingness to create his own, fully functional set-up, all on top of his 24/7 workload.
Prince's music was then primarily released through his Internet subscription service NPGOnline. Sales suffered and he "disappeared" but he never lost his presence. In addition, his independence turned him into a marketing genius always thinking outside the box, always surprising the punters with his extravagant shows and musical explorations such as his appearance at the great Monteux Jazz Festival or his legendary exclusive Las Vegas appearances. His free give-away of the Planet Earth Album via a UK Newspaper caused controversy but was the perfect promotion for his 21 Nights UK Tour. His persistent and successful crack down unauthorised usage of images, music and videos on the Internet is another way of "keeping up your price". His new Album was a direct deal with US Retailers including Target. It worked. Previous Albums were based on marketing-distribution deals with major distributors, always keeping the full rights to his work.
3. The Art of Giving - Prince Live
Prince's legendary Live performances and excessive aftershows made him the most bootlegged musician of all times. However, seeing him on stage makes one realise how different his live performances are from the rest of today’s top acts. Prince does not perform because the industry routine demands it. Prince performs because he loves to share with the audience his gift of being an outstanding musician and performer with a repertoire to die for. Prince masters every trick in the book of playing live, he loves to deliver an explosive musical experience without compromise (no pyrotechnics needed). A man who plays for two hours in front of a stadium audience and then returns 2 hours later in a club playing a 3 hour show in front of 200 people with an always changing set clearly loves what he does. Having reached the age of 50 now, nothing has changed. In fact, it seemed that he is better than ever.
Although his recent devotion towards the Jehovah Witness believe system has raised some eyebrows, he certainly lives according to one rule: "God helps those who help themselves"
London based, German classical composer BW Recknagel has launched his new website http://www.bwrecknagel.com and Album Release "Nihilum", available as download only, in June 2009.
BW Recknagel's debut Album "Nihilum" comes like a breath of fresh air in the midst of classical releases. Fresh, as his piano compositions are of extreme deep and dark nature. With many contemporary composers being obsessed with abstract art and, as a result, struggling to meet a wider audience, BW Recknagel has no intention to re-invent the wheel but simply focuses on making beautiful music, truly authentic and inspired.
All 10 pieces, ranging from Minimalism to dark Romanticism, have hypnotic tones of such intimacy and emotional depth that the listener is immediately drawn into a world of deep yet edgy relaxation - from the first note to the last with a commercial edge and the potential of inviting a wider audience.
Performed by Russian Pianist Xenia Russo, her sensitive and expertly colored playing brings the final magical touch to this unique work, emphasizing the "openness" of BW Recknagel's music, painting a picture of melancholy and sadness, taking you into a journey of your own inner stories of emotion.
Tracks like "Singularity", "Fading Love" and "Before The Dark" bear references to the early 20th Century French impressionists such as Eric Satie or Debussy whereby the Album develops into more complex, classical material in the line of dark romanticism. The mainly chord based, also longest track on the Album, "Requiem For A Friend" deserves special recognition for his incredible authentic, dark and sinister "storytelling". The Album closes with three of the most commercial tunes, "Nihilum", "Dusk" and "Follow Your Bliss" and again show BW Recknagel unique style and handwriting with a talent to write strong themes (leitmotivs) without leaving the classical terrain.
More surprisingly, BW Recknagel has never set a foot into a musical academy but his colorful background and musical London life and career are more than an interesting read:
Raised by a musical family, he grew up with classical music and trained in classical piano and guitar for more than 14 years. Exploring and making music from all genres has always been his passion and the rather uninspired landscape of his German hometown Dortmund led to the move to London, a leap in the dark but it was about being in the right place at the right time - his own private Hacienda.
He soon teamed up with 80's producer Zeus B Held (Transvision Vamp, Men Without Hats, John Foxx) and became his in-house studio engineer at VoiceVersa Studio, at the heart of London's music metropolis in Portobello Rd. For the years to come, the studio turned into one of the most vibrant places during the Brit Pop/Dance Mania era. His new collaboration with Cult Journalist Kris Needs made him remix more than 40 Top UK artists including Primal Scream, St.Etienne, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) Malcolm MacLaren, The Prodigy - to name but a few. His own instrumental chillout work under the name Headman/Full Moon Fashions was also spotted by Billy MacKenzie of critically acclaimed The Associates fame and he staged his comeback single Loom feat. Billy MacKenzie "Anacostia Bay At The Edge Of The World", sung over one of BW Recknagel's original Teutonic instrumental tracks.
Still, the years 1992 to 2000 were anything but classical. BW's life was a nonstop mixture of dance culture hedonism - think chemically influenced creativity for the 90s, detox units, rehab and production work all in the mix. In a productive haze and with the energy of five, he founded Millennium Records Ltd., (a dance imprint still active now with distribution in 20 countries) so becoming a music mogul was a natural progression. His move back to his classical roots was more accidental. "I haven't touched or listened to classical music in 10 years and simply hearing a piece in a cab pushed a button and I haven't looked back since." He saw and experienced the seedy underbelly of London living for 17 years and like an avid voyeur, took in everything - these were times about being on the outside-being-in.
In the latter 5 years composing was about bringing light to the darkness - pure and intense fun for him so he never envisaged going public with his private ecstasies. Pressure from friends made him focus in 2008 and the result is the mesmerizing 2009 debut of "Nhilium", a 10 track album of sheer emotional bliss and a second Album already in the making.
