  • Janas, Maria Sannia & Maria Carta

Janas ("fairies" in Sardinian) is another band that sings in Sardinian.
Marisa Sannia, recently passed away, was another female vocalist from Iglesias luckily recovered for the Sardinian language in her last years of activity, after years singing in the killer language as a pop starlet. She sung also sometimes in catalan.
Maria Carta was a Sardinian folk music singer-songwriter, poet and actress (she played the mother role of Vito Corleone in Godfather II in 1974) from Sassari.

Thanks, Added . You are adding a lot of good information lately!

Since I can't easily recognise which songs are in Sardinian and which in Italian or Catalan... could you please take care of tagging the appropriate tracks of Marisa and Maria with the tag?

  • Sure, I'll do it.
But as far as I perceive, the tag Minority language is a generic one, isn't it? How can I distinguish with that tag the Sardinian from the Catalan ones?
Or did you mean from the Italian ones?

edit: sorry I just realised what you meant.

  • Elena Ledda

Looking for some echilíbbriu between Sàssari and Casteddu, and having already a Sassarese singer (Maria Carta) we can add Elena Ledda as a reprensentative of the rival city Casteddu (Cagliari), even if she uses mainly the Logudorese variant for singing. She sometimes sings in the Campidanese and the Gallurese (Corsican) variants, and also in Catalan.

  • Tancaruja

Tancaruja is another not streamable band available in lastfm.

Added Elena Ledda in Sardinian, Corsican and Catalan threads. If you think I should add her somewhere else just say it.

    Added Tancaruja here.
