Oh! Oh! I'm an Edinburgh band (well, solo artist)! Hannah Werdmuller, and I've just released my first album Pre-Apocalyptic Love Song which you can listen to here http://hannahwerdmuller.com/ ... Yes, isn't it.

Here's an interview with that lovely Edinburgh-based label that is Gerry Loves Records: http://argosbarks.tumblr.com/post/655684670/interview-gerry-loves-records

Closest thing I could find is the aberdeen-music group, although it's not quite the same, so it looks like as instead of taking over we should actually create it in the first place.

Sounds like a good plan to me! Actually now I'm wondering if there is an Aberdeen Bands group already, I'm gonna have a look now...

Post away in the GB room. perhaps they like Edinburger bands too. Then together we can find the Aberdeen bands group and take over the Scottish bands room and then onwards to world domination! Without genre of course :) - never bickering - just expressing views while on the flip side both positive about the other - just kinda defining the finer detail before signing up to a great deal.

Well all thanks to our bickering about which city is better haha, perhaps next time we should move the conversation to the Glasgow Bands group and perhaps that'll encourage someone else to join in as well, in the meantime I need to get more people to join here!

agreed - man there thave been more comments in here in two days than 6 months in the Glasgow Bands group. :)

I do agree with you, I didn't say that Embra holds copyright to non-mainstream musicality, as a matter of fact Glasgow still has some of the finest bands if the UK in my opinion and as you said, there actually is a healthy underground electronic scene in Glasgow that I envy with some people who I have no doubt are about to explode like miaoux miaoux. I always listen to Glasgow PodCART and I can't help but think how many new bands are popping up all the time under all kinds of scenes and genres, it's brilliant. Edniburgh though has been catching up really fast in the past few years and it's showing a lot of promise, I reckon between this year and the next there will be at the very least two or three Embra bands becoming big as they deserve so.

ahhh see what you are saying. But then i think these bands are not a million miles away from bands like My latest Novel, North American War, Ursula Minor, Mummy Short arms or even OtherPeople. What i think Glasgow has to some extent is such a rich vein of music that bands that may have otherwise been more prominent in Edinburgh fit into (i need to watch how i word this) a lesser rich vein against those in Glasgow. there are just so many of them. Yes we have Twee, we have weegie rock, we have mainstream and we have pioneering guitar led indie bands...but Glasgow has a massive electronic underground and it especially has more un-pigeon hole able bands (made that up there) than perhaps you are elluding to. Its just perhaps less prominant due to the amount of good things going on in this city musically. Somewhere Edinburgh still turns an envious eye to. and thats not to fan any flames of retort and jealousy - its just fact until such time Edinburgh catches up. IMHO

Admittedly that last bit was more meant to tease you but actually I do mean the avant-garde bit - what I meant was that Embra bans are often different than the mainstream offering, we don't have the pop, the twee the alternative or Glasgow, our bands never stick to one genre but always go one step further to make things sound different. Meursault, Dead Boy Robotics, Conquering Animal Sound, The Kays Lavelle, Broken Records, etc, you can say the same thing about all of these and more - you really can't just put one genre to them, can ye?

your comment was doing well until the last bit - you might be right but i didnt understand the bit about bands being "far more classy and avant-garde" - perhaps you can explain that bit to me. as i say a genuine question. I do love Avant Garde Music by ballboy mind. Yes Edinburgh are improving - especially with more venues opening (which is what drove the Glasgow Surge in bands) .

Aye, a lot of quality music to come out of Embra these days. Cannae deny Glasgow's strong music scene but I reckon if we keep this up, Edinburgh might surpass Glagow on certain scenes. We definitely have a far more classy and avant-garde take on music, which I like.

im a weegie but i reckon you Edinburgers are starting to put a good portfolio together just recently! Just need to get yer connections sorted. Oor wee Glasgow bands one maxed oot with 200. Not that anyone actually comes to discuss anything. more of a badge. anyway good luck with the group. and the occasional flickers are superb as well as billy liar!
