I personally like Yann Tiersen's soundtrack to Amélie a lot. Punch-Drunk Love's soundtrack is also excellent.

  • For some halo remixes I found these: http://www.collide.net/vortex/remixes_halo.shtml

I collect spores, molds, and fungus.

Check out the new group If The Illuminati Creeps You Out..., where you can see morphs of musicians, because I have nowhere else to put them. Also, feel free to check my mix (soon to be mixes) on 8tracks.com. Especially good if you don't know what you want to listen to.
  • And now i am reminded of all those soundtracks i should have, but don't..

I love Kill Bill 1&2, Cruel intentions, and i saw somersault on the weekend, the music was awesome. It reminded me of eternal sunshine of the spotless mind in a way...

Began to listen to them. Some of them are remarkable, e.G. "Halo - Sensory Gate Aura Remix".

    Thanks for the link :)

    Game soundtrack remixes

Funny coincidence : Slashdot published a story about a whole album made up of remixes of "Donkey Kong Country" (an old game it seems) from various fans.

Frankly, the result is interesting. Mix of electronics, jazz, easy-listening...

FWIW, I enjoyed tracks 4, 6 and 7 thus far.

  • Slight diversion.

I thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack to the videogame Rez, particularly the final level with the 'fear is the mind-killer' snippets from David Lynch's Dune.

Movie soundtrack? I can tell you my least favourite, if that's worth anything: Boys On The Side. Goddamnit.

Have to agree on the Kill Bill Vol1&2 soundtracks. Also liked the Lost in Translation one although I always have to wonder if my love of that soundtrack and movie are just part of my love of Matthew spilling over.

    Ones not mentioned:

    anime:
KareKano (彼氏彼女の事情) ("His and Her CIrcumstances")
    FLCL
    Lain

    movie:
    All About Lili Chou
    Moulin Rouge

    game:
Jet Set Radio (and Jet Set Radio Future)
    Texhnictix
    Pop'n Music V-Rare 5

I don't think any of these have been mentioned yet.

    Movie Favorites
The Truman Show - my favorite soundtrack. :-)
The Usual Suspects - Dark, mysterious, filled with tension
    Gattaca - Very powerful/emotional sountrack
The Fifth Element - Very fun soundtrack, some neat mid-eastern influences
28 Days Later - Good even though it doesn't include East Hastings
Band of Brothers (not a movie, but close enough) great stuff
The Last of the Mohicans - love the irish jig fiddle parts. can be a bit repetitive, but still very good overall.
My Fair Lady (1964 film sountrack) - Rex Harrison is awesome!

    Anime
    .hack//SIGN - sountracks 1 and 2

    Video Games
Final Fantasy N Generation and S Generation soundtracks
Starcraft Game Music - Several korean music artists recorded songs devoted to the game due to the huge Starcraft craze over there. Many of their songs contain sound clips and melodies taken from the game, I don't understand the korean language, but that probably makes listening to this more enjoyable to me if that makes any sense.

Make me thinks, a truly great soundtrack is "Passion", ths "The last temptation of Christ" soundtrack, by Peter gabriel.

I suggest especially the following tracks:
    - "With this love"
    - "With this love - CHoir"
    - "It is accomplished"
    - "Bread & wine"

  • I've always loved the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack, but people keep stealing my copies :(

Also, the Quake 1 soundtrack was inspired :)

and just so I have some variety, I loved the Garden State soundtrack too :P

Rabbit, where'd you put the keys girl?
  • the garden state soundtrack is such a "guilty pleasure" of mine. It's well organized.

    some of mine

lock stock & two smoking barrels probably is one of my favourite soundtracks. anyone who can put dusty springfield, iggy pop and james brown on the same album deserves some big credit.

snatch which is basically the follow-up to lock stock has the stranglers and oasis. good stuff too.

from dusk till dawn is really rad too. some haunting stuff. really. tito & tarantula - after dark one of my favourite songs. if only i could find my cd. tarantino is god. except for resovoir dogs which was shit. i'm sorry.

trainspotting. ruxin soundtrack. the last scene when ewan mcgregor is walking away and born slippy comes on, probably one of the best movie scenes ever. also has iggy pop on it too which i dig.

remember the titans. soppy as fuck movie with a nice soundtrack. nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, goodbye!

    score:

John Williams - Star Wars (his Harry Potter 3 and Catch Me If You Can scores are ace, but pretty much anything he's done is top-notch)
Howard Shore - Lord of the Rings (all 3, superb)
Clint Mansell - Requiem for a Dream
Danny Elfman - again, most of his stuff is great... Nightmare Before Christmas is the biggie for me.

    songs from or inspired by:

    Rain (Neil Finn et al)
Storytelling - Belle and Sebastian (ok I know it's not totally legit)
David Lynch films have really good soundtracks, both in the Badalamenti scores and in the song selection (Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mullholland Drive esp.)
Virgin Suicides (again, air's score and the from/inspired by)
    Ghost World
    Lost in Translation
    Natural Born Killers

    That's all for the moment.

OK, then try these tolkien-inspired musics. I'll never say it enough, they would have made an outstanding LOTR soundtrack...

Yeah I've got the Somersault soundtrack- it's by Decoder Ring and is very good, but for me nothing tops the Lost In Translation soundtrack.

    speaking of soundtracks...

has anyone seen the buffalo soldiers soundtrack around? it's a rad movie and the edgy soundtrack fucking makes it. full of public enemy apparently. i wouldn't know though as it is near impossible to even find a track listing without resorting to the dvd which i just thought of doing.
