The Alternative Music Society (Alt Soc) aims to provide musical relief from Durham's cheesey nightlife.

Alt Soc incorporates all genres of music and covers anything and everything from indie, rock and metal to drum and bass dubstep and electronic; all are welcome.

The society puts on a variety of events including; club nights, gigs and bar crawls in Durham, Newcastle and Middlesborough for both Durham and Stockton students.

As well as this Alt Soc provide students with up to date listings of gigs, club nights and other events in Durham and the surrounding areas and also provides a bus service to and from gigs.

You can still come to our events if you aren't a member :)

objection list 1. durham is shit 2. so are the people 3. the vast majority of the people there are poor 4. there is nothing to do in durham because it is a boring place to live 5. if you are reading this and are from durham you are shit 6. It’s the wettest county in the country 7. I once visited durham and saw no happy people (excluding those who were leaving) (this means you are depressed by default if you live in durham) 8. There are more stains in durham than in a Balinese brothel 9. There are more stains in durham alll the brothels in Asia 10. Never saw a clean thing or person there. 11. The streets are paved with dog shit and litter and chewing gum instead of golden sunshine. The place just reeks of below average that’s the impression i got when i visited. I wouldn’t go back.
