    How about you?

  • I live in Barnstaple!

  • Exeter.
We've got Four Tet coming at the end of October, in case anyone else is interested.

  • Live and work in Exeter.

Been here for 16 years and have seen the music venues change a bit over that time. But it seems we have a half decent choice of music pubs again, after what felt like a few years in the doldrums.

What's it like for live music (local or touring) where you are in Devon? I know the Half Moon's a good one.

  • I'm originally from Torbay, Paignton to be exact.

  • Home is Torbay, Brixham to be exact, but I'm mostly in Oxford.

  • I've just started my first year at Dartington College of Arts studying Music.. so, near Totnes! If you have any idea where that is. Mid-south coast devon. Nearish Teignmouth, midway between Plymouth and Exeter..

Where are the best gig venues nearby I should check out?

    wheeeeeeee
  • Welcome to Devon cry_of_laughter. What kind of venue are you after (pub, arts centre etc)?

And what's too far away to no longer be "nearby"? If Exeter's too far then I wouldn't really know where to suggest.

I'm from tiverton. Exeter uni seems to be good for gigs recently, specifically the lemongrove.

  • ^ Ah the good old Lemmy. I love that place. Exeter Uni in general has a couple of good spots. Then also in Exeter you have the Westpoint Arena (basically an abandoned airfield hangar) where the bigger acts go (Muse, I think Limp Bizkit or some other interchangeable nu-metal band as well). Then of course the Cavern and the Pheonix in Exeter, moving down into Torbay, you've got a couple of clubs in Torquay that will play some rock, like the Koko Lounge. I'm not sure if they have live music there or not, I've not been. Also, you got the Torquay Town Hall which has some old punk bands that still tour, most notably the Damned and the Misfits. Then in Paignton, you've got the Half Moon, and I believe the Damned played there last year as well. Would have been great had I been home. Not too sure about Brixham or even Totnes, but there's a few of the best clubs on the east coast of the county.

oi oi oi oi. Devon's great and you know it! sure, it may not have the bright lights of blackpool or the glitz and glam of scunthorpe, but it houses great towns such as barnstaple and honiton!......God i hate devon.

  • All the scene kids here are starting to get on my nerves. You go into town and just get glared at, or maybe it's just me. But I remember last year when half of them were all goth-ed up. Oh well. It'll be over soon (hopefully).

Barnstaple scares me, it's so..slow. If you get what I mean. Maybe it's just peaceful and I can't handle it haha.

  • Torbay woooohoooo rock on fellow torbayers!

  • I live in Holsworthy.

  • Seaton, in east devon. near sidmouth and that.

    Oh yes.

Good day Mr Stone! Happy 2007.
I'm James and I too live in Seaton (when I'm not living in Paris) and so does my Dad, Phil.
