This is the group for those who love the dark and gothic country/folk bands of Denver, Colorado, like 16 Horsepower, Woven Hand, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, The Denver Gentlemen, DeVotchKa, Jay Munly, etc.

It is supposed to focus on Denver, but bands related or similar, though not from Denver, are also represented here.

Most importantly: discuss! Share your favourites and get some new ones as well. That's supposed to be the point.

bekowski: Munly & TLLH best of '00s, Munly & Lupercalians best of '10s? Ridiculous thing to say, I know, but it's a really damn awesome record. As for T-Bone Burnett, I'd say it's a good suggestion. He's done so much different stuff, though, but yeah you're right.

I have re-read the description of the group and thought once again, that T-Bone Burnett should be mentioned here. ok, the music he was playing through the 80's was pretty usual, but the last two albums he recorded in the 2000's are superb and feet here perfectly.

One man you rarely hear about is Robert/Bob Ferbrache. He is the somewhat quiet, older man who sits in the background, but he is behind most everything that we know about the Denver scene. He produced most 16hp, wovenhand and auto club records, as well as petr and the wulf and probably more, but I can't remember. He also played in these bands as well as producing for and playing in Tarantella. All in all he's touched everything these guys did and more. Slim Cessna himself called him the father of the "Denver Sound", and while Slim, Jay and David were nothing more than tiny brats, "Big Bad Bob" would probably walk around being the awesome guy he is. I say this because I'm sure a lot don't know about him and that's a bit unfair.

Me too, plothead. I'm actually thinking of making it my next vacation. And who knows - I might end up there on a permanent basis. Anyways, today I got my dad completely and utterly fascinated by various Denver bands. I'm proud, and I'm gonna keep on spreading the word!
