If I'm not completely mistaken, there's no such thread here yet. (!?)

So, what's your favourite (studio) album?

I might be the only one in the whole group, but I think, "The Book of Taliesyn" is their best, only great songs on that one.

    €:

    2. Burn
    3. Machine Head
    4. Deep Purple
    5. Stormbringer
    6. In Rock
    7. Fireball

it gets too difficult after those and even these ranks keep changing a lot.

  • Well it's really hard for me to choose one from Machine Head and Burn... but maybe Machine Head is a fraction better, just because of the line-up (it's more typical for Purple - after all Coverdale and Hughes are in the band for only 3 years)

My favourite albums are the first ones, The Book Of Taliesyn, Shades of Deep Purple and Deep Purple. I just love Rod Evans' voice.

  • Perfect Strangers

History is written on the sands of Arrakis. A chapter has ended, swept away by the whirlwind. One door has closed, but another has opened. And on the other side... our future... and the rain is still red

  • If I had to pick the best, it would probably be 'In Rock' or 'Fireball'. I also like 'Stormbringer' & their recent one 'Rapture Of The Deep'
but my personal favourite is 'The House Of Blue Light' (1987).

  • top 5

    perfect strangers
    in rock
    deep purple
    machine head
    burn

    in that order...

i like all their songs though...

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings -- nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -- Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And -- which is more -- you'll be a Man, my son!
-Rudyard Kipling (from the poem IF)
  • Made in Japan, by FAR. All of the studio versions of their greatest songs were improved upon, plus there were large amounts of fantastic improvisation, places only Deep Purple would go. As soon as you've heard that album, In Rock, Fireball and Machine Head suddenly become dull.
