stitchling after trying about 10 different players, none of which would let me play just by choosing a directory, I found Decibel! it's great!
September 2011 -
plymouthsabre just using this software now...excellent, definitely does not drain RAM! is it capable of bit-perfect output?
September 2011 -
baueran Currently best Linux audio player. Would love to be able to edit MP3 tags though...

ikandarineraka decible player.. simple but great for me

thechickennuggt This is awesome. The only player that can handle my 160GB+ library (because it doesn't bother trying to make a tag db of it, thank god) but still lets me drag and drop tracks to queue, save playlists, etc. And strangely enough, no other player I've tried on this old 'buntu computer lets me skip forward within a track. Decibel does its job well. I'll be recommending this one. Thank you for making this!

RAHB The only linux audio player I'll ever use from now on. It's a crime that it's not more popular. Hell, get rid of Rhythmbox and make this the default Ubuntu player.
August 2010 -
kmetamorphosis I just recently discovered Decibel, and I love its simplicity.

pawmach finally the player with a simple design !!! THX

PSU_strummer ...strange, however. seems near /overdrive/ -- however, rarely do i have the Harmon-Kardon at this level-- so could be component failure [doubtful and would not attribute described O/D to simply pushing the amp vol]. i know little, very little of the various audio pkgs for Linux, and the seemingly disparate options amongst them. alsa always seemed fine to me, although i believe it's /the/ generic, one-size-fits-all thing, so-- as expected.

PSU_strummer rock. sounds like /Kernel Streaming/... probably some other whack shit i be doin

wesolutki decibel dont support gapless playback so disappointing...
March 2010 -
SchAirport OK, as for the first: decibel-audio-player-remote pause does the trick.
February 2010 -
SchAirport Hello, I have a couple of questions regarding Decibel: * If I want to bind a key to play/pause, which command should i use? * Is there any way to listen to audio streams? In any event, thanks for this very nice piece of software :)

GameCharmer Decibel ROCKS!!! Amarok doesn't work on my system, Rhythmbox loses tracks in it's playlist after it plays the song (even on repeat), several others either aren't Pulse Audio compatible or just don't work. Decibel works flawlessly, runs insanely fast, and is EXACTLY what I want. A music player without the BS and includes Last.fm support! :)

wesolutki when will u add a cue sheet support in flac files? its absolutley nr1 add!

phanki @ Stefan-S: Yes I know, what I meant and wrote is that pressing the close button should minimize the app to the tray icon, not closing it ;)
December 2009 -
Stefan-S You can minimize it to tray. Just enable the status icon in the settings and then click on it to minimize it.
December 2009 -
phanki Nice player, I am using mainly Decibel for playing my music (collection with about 15000 entries). I would like to see the option to close Decibel to the tray icon and maybe a column with bitrate info. Thank you for this nice piece of software.

paterbrown The equalizer exists as module but a simple ID3tag editor would be nice...
November 2009 -
avsantos I think Decibel's amazing player, but "extremist" in some points. At least a simple id3tag editor should be incorporated to it and an equalizer too.
November 2009 -
B0UNCE Yes, of course. For a long, long time that feature worked perfectly... Maybe update from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 will remove the problem.
October 2009 -

Athropos Did you enable the AudioScrobbler module in the preferences? Once enabled, it should ask for your login and your password as soon you start playing something.
October 2009 -
B0UNCE I can't scrobble from Decibel... Does anyone got similar problem with it?

paterbrown Nice Player! Especially the handling of multiple libraries is great...
September 2009 -

Athropos It's a problem with GStreamer (The '#' thing). It's fixed in the upcoming 1.02, although I don't know when it will be released. I'll try to release it soon, at least to fix this issue.
September 2009 -

lastfmart Decibel is my new player of choice, but it chokes on files with '#' in the path. I'm still running 1.00, has this been fixed in 1.01?
September 2009 -
maggot_brained 1.01 is great! Decibel just keeps getting better.
